Bike is my buddie's 08. He had the dealer install frame sliders and doesn't like them. He's asked me to remove them. Can someone give me the torque value for these bolts? Should I use blue loctite on them? TIA
I hate to assume anything but I would think you are referencing the OEM bolts. Are the OEM bolts available or are you using the bolts provided with the sliders. The length of the bolt may be an issue. Spike offers good comments.... What bolts are these???There are different slider kits and different mounting points. The factory manual for the "6th Gen" is available on this site. The data you require can be sorced therin if you have the OEM bolts and wll give you a realiable value. Personally I prefer the manual to the opinions of the experts... The horses mouth is often better than the other end, of course dependant greatly on your needs... Crap, what am I saying? Both ends are often very vocal, lol Good luck with your project. As for the Loctite.....try the "Honda Common Service Manual" and product website.
You can use standard torque values depending on the grade of the bolt/stud. Here's one in metric. These are max torque values for oiled bolts. For metric. Thanks guys. Since I'm taking the sliders off I am putting the OEM bolts back in. I had access to the standard torque value chart, but am wondering since the bolts are going into aluminum threads (I presume) the value might be a little less. I of course want them tight enough but would really like not stripping anything...
