Motorcycle News in the UK has today got a feature and cover picture of the (rumoured) new V4 superbike from Honda.
The bike is supposed to be a 1000cc V4 but definately a race replica in the mould of the RC30 & RC45.
Expected next year, the article quotes a highly placed Honda Japan source stating "if you want a Fireblade you'd better buy it before 2008"..other sources say that the bike will not replace the fireblade on the road, but is intended to replace it as a race machine.

Supposition, conjecture, rumour - lets hope it's all true and the Sport touring version comes out shortly afterwards...

seat looks painful for rider and passenger...It has no SSA ...looks awful squidlike to me. Looks like a 1000RR with a new paint scheme and different motor.

I second that motion. I have posted up on other forums for the same subject. I stated that it is about time, it will RC212V over RC30 because of moto-gp, and it it's just now happening since we Americans are familir with moto-gp and it's motorcycles. Honda wouldn't build a super cool bike that the masses wouldn't understand. Now that we Have gp races on american soil and an american took the podium with a honda- it's an easy sell. I hope I can afford it when it comes out because it looks like I will have to have buy it when it does happen. I would like a SSSA like the RC45, but I think I might have to settle...

Regardless of the exact specs of this bike or its sales viability, it bodes well for VFR owners of all stripes that they are focusing on the V4 platform...just think... if they screw it up you 5th Genners will be that much more pleased with your bikes:caked:

The front end looks like it's off the Duc 1098 to me.

The gas tank is miniscule! I don't know what to think about the side exhaust either. What's next for motorcycle manufacturers? How about they just point it straight down so we can take off like a Harrier! I don't think I have ever seen a tail section on a sportbike that is that short. That pillion, is that a coaster to set your beer on while you're working on the bike? All in all, very nice concept though. Honda's back in the Superbike wars big time!

    Buell - Shortest pillion ever!

I like sport touring. I do 1000mi+ long rides at least once a quarter. I love my Viffer, but I've been eye-balling the BMW K1200 R Sport. That things just sick. Also, I like my friends FZ1 so it looks like an OK choice. Honda would have to sell thier 1000cc V5 to get my attention.

I'll be on VOODOO until I ride her into the ground so there's really no point in my shopping around.

And if the "VFR1000RR" (?) doesnt suit you, since the 1098 will be "old" by then, i believe the R version will be an 1184 or something like that (1.2L bracket)...

so better hold off on both : )

Actually, Honda started it with the NR750. Ducati ran away with it, Honda just went conservative with the 4g

Thats an OLD pic, when there was speculation of a road going RC211V... I think the new pic at the top of the thread is more acurate (I hope as hell!!!). The tank looks small because the actual fuel tank will probably extend to under the seat. I really hope this is the new Honda superbike. I'm getting one!!!!!!!!!

Nah! push rods and a single cam.....

It is beautiful, should give me another couple of years on my VFR and then over I go. Wonder what they will call it: Fireblade or VFR??
