    Hi there

I bought a 1986 honda interceptor vt500f as my first bike and i love it however I cant seem to find any other ones out there. Is it true that these bikes are hard to find? if I were to sell it how much should i ask for it?

There isnt any such thing as a VT 500F interceptor, but there is a VF500F. they're not common, but they are also not really valuable because of a number of issues from what I read.

    Hi, I just sold.my.86 vf500f babyceptor earlier this year so lemme throw in some insight. The.86 500 is the most.common 86 u will see. The 750 & 1000s are.real rare. Right now theres 3 86 500s on craigs within 4 hours from me, 2.have under.20k miles and only.1 is.selling for over $2k.

To disagree with the above.guy, the 86 is actually the.first year alot of the big problems were eliminated...which is why we see soo many working examples..and why in the 3 years I owned mine I had 0issues.

Sold mine earlier in April with 22k miles for $1500..with 500 miles on new tires. That the going rate. If I had emough garage space no way in hell I would have let her.go...but I have a triumph daytona 675 and jus got a 2007 vfr 25th anniversary....which makes me.miss.my.babyceptor even more.

    Hope that helps -Drew

There were many VF500's sold, the 86 model year was not especially rare either. Honda sold a lot of 500's bceause they were sporty, had good peroformance (for the day) and were relatively cheap. Due to attrition many of them have fallen by the wayside, not really any different than any other motorcycle. Honda made a slight change to the 865 model but eventually chose the CB(R) line for it's premier sportbikes. Too bad, it would have been interesting to see what the VF500 could have been!

    I wonder this myself.

How I would have loved to see (and own) a modern day VF500...possibly a VFR500??

All the improvements of the 3rd/4th gen VFR750's but in a smaller package. Though I guess that's what the VFR400 is for. When I get me a garage I'd love to get a VFR400
