Hey folks, I have a great wife. Just thought I would start out with that and I think you will agree. About 2 months or so ago, I was walking into my office building before work when I heard the sweetest sound on earth. I looked around and saw that it was coming from a high piped VFR. I knew very little about VFR's at that point but I sure liked that sound. I spent a little while poking around on the internet and decided that I had to add it to the list of bikes I would someday own (also includes KLR650 and VStrom 1000). It was, by far the most sport oriented bike I have ever had on my list. I have had 2 Suzuki Bandits and a Concours 1000 but this is much more sport oriented.

About 3 weeks ago, I asked my wife to go with me to the Honda dealer up the road to help me pick out a new rainsuit with the birthday gift certificate she got me. I was headed up to DC for work (about 525 mile ride) the next day and my old suit was worn out. Well, lo and behold, there was a leftover 2008 VFR on the floor. I knew I shouldn't but I could not help it-I sat on it. Oh, I was sporting new bike wood. The dealer could see it in my eye and swooped over and offered to discount it below the already low-low price. I staggered out with my new rainsuit and tried to clear my mind. No dice. I kept thinking about it and making jokes to my wife.

On Thursday of this past week, my wife called my cell at 10:00 am and told me she was at the dealer and had bought the bike. Holy Cow! I had to stay at work until noon but I could not concentrate. I brought it home that day and went for my first real ride yesterday. Wow! what a blast. I expect to be logging in here to get advice, etc. as I continue to learn the bike.

    Thanks,
    Andy

You have a great wife and are a lucky man. Welcome to VFR ownership. What part of KY are you in. I live in Clarksville TN near Fort Campbell KY. Post some pictures of your bike so we can drool.

I am in Berea, which is about 30 miles south of Lexington on I 75. Some great riding around here. I have some pictures but they are low quality.

Please remember the VFR is built for leisure riding only. Just ask Sebastian and he'll tell you the same.

My wife bought my VFR for me as well. I was riding a Kawasaki ZR-7S at the time. I had been drooling over the VFR for a while and one day she said "is it a bike you would ride for the rest of your life?" And I said, absolutely. And though I look longingly at other rides from time to time (coughDucati848cough), I have a hard time believing any bike will ever combine the looks, performance and comfort of this. It's a classic.

p.s. That is my favorite color from that year. Lucky guy. On the other hand, I can't believe how big that tag is. No fender eliminator for you.

That is just the temporary tag. The regular motorcycle tags in Kentucky are normal sized. That being said, I plan to leave that alone for now as I want to add a Givi top case or something similar first. I am commuting 45 miles one way 2-3 days a week and it seems as though rain has become the standard weather around here.

Let's just say that it will be a while before I am dragging parts enough to create sparks.
