That plate is the size of a billboard. A fender eliminator definitely wouldn't work for you. Most US plates are only 7" wide and they fit perfectly between the mufflers. It looks like the stock fender is barely big enough to hold your plate .......................

Yep, that's UK legal standard. There's no regulations for the size of the plate but there is for the letters on it, which effectively determines a normal 7-character registration will fit on a 9" by 7" plate.

With the amount of plate cloning that goes on over here it's pretty standard to obscure your plate on a current reg. Here's my old wrecked VFR.

The Virginia statute states "clearly visible" but when he pulled me over he gave me a speeding ticket and an obstructed license plate ticket. I think it is stupid, it was clear enough that he could write the tag on the ticket. I got it on the 295 to 64 on ramp just outside Richmond Va.

On a more positive note, with cut back exhaust cans I can fit the license plate closer to the tips and it is perfectly visible while still being horizontal.

Bro, that sucks. That cop really had a hard on for ya... You piss him off? Cops around here like to target military folks because we have the means to pay the ticket(s)- as well as they know we HAVE to, but I don't know anyone who has been popped soley for a plate violation. Mabey in conjunction to another charge just to stick it to ya if you really piss them off, but never by itself alone.

That cop probably rides a Harley... or a scooter! :whoo:

I feel so old. I have been hunting and pecking on this site for the "Start New Thread" button for 15 minutes. I feel like those people who are just learning computers and don't know how to copy and paste or right-click, etc... Thanks VFR World for that. lol. Anyway, I give up and so will post the information here.

I did the fender eliminator and have some additional tips for those thinking of the competition werkes kit.

1 - you will need a 10 mm socket, a 12 mm socket and a philips head to remove the tail assembly and the light assembly from the tail. The instructions don't tell you this.
2 - To install the fender eliminator you will need a 12 mm wrench (I used a 12 mm wratcheting wrench). The angle is weird and my socket wasn't going to fit.
3 - Installing the light assembly is every bit as tight as previously mentioned. I have skinny fingers and was able to get the nut started without using the tape trick mentioned above. However, even though the nut provided is identified as a 4 mm nut, you need a 7 mm wrench to tighten it down. Mechanics probably know why this is, but dumb guys like me don't.
4 - When completed, the connector to your light assembly is exposed to the elements. I am going to look for some way to wrap this up so it doesn't corrode as quickly.
5 - If you think you are going to want to re-install the stock tail assembly at some point, you better make notes about how it fit together. I tried to figure out how it would go back on and so far have failed. Again, your mileage may vary on this, as I'm not mechanically gifted in any way.
5b - You will never want to re-install the tail assembly unless forced to by law because this thing looks so cool. I would take a pic, but the pics above show everything my pics would show.

I am seriously not mechanical in any way, which is my way of saying this is a simple do-it-yourself mod for anyone... ANYONE. It took me less than an hour from start to finish.

Does every one agree that the Competition Werkes fender eliminator is the best rig out there? I think i saw one kit on line that allows you to adjust the angle of the plate.

My opinion is yes. There are some threads on here for making your own, but I don't think they're as clean of a solution. The CW kit really isn't that expensive and you know what you're getting.
