That's why I always cringe when I see these riders who wear t-shirts, shorts and tennis shoes. Sometimes I see riders with flip-flops, these are typically the cruiser riders who have heel shifters. All it takes is a little loose traction and BAM, you're on the pavement sliding along. Glad your friend is OK and that he knew to separate himself from the vehicle instead of continuing his "ride" down the hillside. Nice of those campers to come to your aid too.

Likely a bad case of target fixation. Happens to us all at some time or another. Hard lessons learned. Mine was less drastic but the outcome could have been worse as I was looking at the grill of an on coming Ford Econoline van driven by an old geezer (older than me anyways) who was with it enough to avoid me. Very minor scratches on the fairings and I had to replace an after market windscreen. Worse part of it all was I lost my Hang Loose decal and had to get another from Hawaii.

Agreed. Unless he was coming in ultra hot (triple digits), from the looks of that corner, a good lean and looking through the turn probably would have spared him (his bike) a ride down the hill. Of course, I wasn't there and can't say for sure but that's my .02 from what I could see on the video. Still, glad he's okay and no major damage to his ride. Lesson learned (I hope).

So, Randy, did you get another trip to Hawaii to get your replacement sticker? If so, I'd say that was probably the best part of it all. Glad to hear you're still in one piece after that too.

I wish. That won't happen for a few years now. I'm kinda tapped out as far as travel expenditures go this year.

Mostly target fixation. The guy rides that Ninja 500 to its limits, the whole day I wasn't able to keep up with him and the 2 sv650's, we rode almost 100 miles of canyon that day and this turn wasn't even that bad. He just remembers he was going too fast and most likely fixated, but most the time, when you fixate, you hang onto the bike, he was able to low side it and ditch it.

    WTF man lol

Without them, we would of been bust out of luck and probably would have to call a tow truck which of course equals $$$$$$$ especially winching something off the side of a mountain.

Ahhh hell no, your Hang Loose decal fell off?!?!?!?! Man, you best go back to Hawaii & get a replacement, thats not tolerable!
