Has anyone done this to a VF500? It basically gives you full throttle in ~1/5 turn of the grip instead of the typical ~1/4 turn. Not every bike I've ever ridden feels like it needs this but since the 500 needs throttle to respond I think it would improve the experience.

I do think part of my laggy off idle throttle is jetting but I'm not used to how much grip turn a low torque engine requires.

I can get a kit for my TL1000 but I don't know if it will work on the Honda controls.

I modded my DRZ400E throttle for quicker response, just made a plastic ring with a cable groove to increase the radius. You might check and see if a throttle tube off something like a RC51 ( I think it's larger) might work (usually cheap on Ebay), just need a larger cable ring area.

I used an R6 throttle tube on my 954. Worked great and only had to trim the inside of the house a tad to get it all to fit.

I has a drag racing Hayabusa and discovered that the Yamaha R1 throttle handle would fit right in and gave shorter throttle travel, the R6 one will give even less. They seem to fit almost anything that has two cable operated throttle and are cheap from your local dealer.

Great info, thanks! Would you say that the R6 throttle is too quick or just the quickest of any you know of? I may have to look into one of those later today.

So an R1 throttle tube would be more like a 1/5 turn? Any idea what years? They went to throttle by wire around 2007ish, don't know if that changed the throttle tube though.

I run a 1/6 turn HRC throttle pipe on my RC51,got it from Scotts Motorcycle Service. I also agree that it's not for new riders either as the throttle pick-up is much more aggressive and that it takes quite a bit of getting used to.

I also run a quick throttle on my Ducati 900SS,all 85HP of it. If ever a bike needed a quicker throttle that bike is it. I've found that it actually makes the bike a lot easier to ride because instead of having to twist the throttle practically around the entire bar to get to the power almost the instant you move your hand the power is there at your disposal.

I did the quick throttle on the drag bike because you want your wrist in line with the bars at full throttle. Notice the throttle hand of the racers next time you go to a motorcycle drag race. Yo will notice an elbow up posture so that full throttle can be instant but with full control of the bike. This little trick can be worth 1/10 improvement in 60 foot times. Does not sound like much but in drag racing 1/10 second is the difference betmen winning and loseing. I hvae seen it a number of times. Matter of fact I lost in a final round by .001 so 1/10 can be inportant.

I just ordered a MotioPro throttle tube for an R1 but it also fits R6 and quite a few other Yamaha's, mostly dirtbikes. Are any of these tubes elliptical so you get more throttle in the beginning and then it gets more controllable in the mid-range? I think it will be fine on my VF since it takes so much throttle input anyway.
