One thing that bothers me about below story is the rider besides not wearing a helmet and presumably bike safety gear is said to have laid the bike down well before the impact, I thought that kind of thinking is old hat and potentially more dangerous ?

    From Linky:
Ordinary 'heroes' pull biker from beneath burning BMW | theage.com.au

" Onlookers gaped in disbelief as bystanders rushed to lift a burning car from a stunned motorcyclist pinned beneath it after a near-fatal collision.

"I'm just very thankful for everyone that helped me out," biker Brandon Wright told The Associated Press from his hospital bed. "They saved my life."

Authorities said Wright, 21, was riding his motorcycle near the Utah State University campus in Logan when he collided with a black BMW pulling out of a parking lot.

Tyre and skid marks on the highway indicate that Wright laid the bike down and slid along the road before colliding with the car, Assistant Police Chief Jeff Curtis said.

The bike hit the car's hood and bounced off, while Wright, who was not wearing helmet, slid under the car. Both vehicles then burst into flames, Curtis said.

About 10 men and women rushed to help, lifting the car and dragging Wright to safety. "

That shit made national news! We watched it live in FL, considering the accident happened in UT or someplace its pretty sensational. The accident doode should hang up his riding jacket and helmet, err wait! he dont wear any of that shit.

That doode is the reason they call motorcycle riders, "donors"

    Farking idiot...

Good job random people for helping him. Bad job rider for no gear. But what is with guy in the suit near the random helpers? Maybe he's the bmw driver? Actually stops to lean on the car while they are trying to lift it.

Saw this on National news too. I've often wondered why those apparently opposed to wearing gear are always so quick to "lay 'er down". Neither myself nor any of my two wheeled friends (all of whom wear gear always) ever have as a first thought to throw that motorcycle down the road or to pretend later that our crash was a concious decision whose ultimate impact was lessened by our presence of mind to "lay 'er down" Yee Haw!
