Honda no longer lists the air filter for this model. I had to buy aftermarket from Emgo. Does it require being sprayed with filter oil?

the best advice i can give you is to buy a k&n (which i personally consider better than the Uni, or whatever that other brand is), and follow the directions closely. I believe most aftermarket air filters come pre-oiled so you just open the package and drop it in the airbox and go. bottom line, the instructions included with any aftermarket air filter should be what you go by.

Go with the K&N, buy the oil and cleaning kit, rinse, reuse.

The K&N, with filter cleaning solution andfilter oil, probably close to $130 total. Imma pass on that one. The Emgo brand filter was under thirty total.

But you never have to REPLACE the K&N, just clean and oil it again and again.

just remember dude, you get what you pay for. sure, K&N is expensive, but its the last air filter youll ever buy for that bike, and you dont have to buy the oil kit right off the bat, cause the filter COMES with one (not to mention that you can ride quite a while before itll need its 1st cleaning anyways)

^ you do get what you pay for. I was checking the air filter my 86 VFR700F and I found it had a UNI filter. It had come apart into 4 pieces and was missing some foam. I do not know how long it was on the bike but the quality is just S***. Go with the K&N and get something that is not going to wreck your engine.
