Hi my name is Jeff and I am overweight. Some day I will get back to my boyish figure. Winter time is my diet. Skiing 100+ days and shoveling snow chopping wood and I try to exercise if I can. We are just getting old my friends, thats why we have to ride hot bikes to compensate for our overweightness.....lol!

You're killing me Burner, I can almost hear the tone through the computer :pound: I knew when I started this thread that there was a chance we might sound like a bunch of cackling hens, but what else is there to do when there is snow on the ground, unless of course you live in California and you have the nerve to bitch when it's 60 degrees outside.

I'm a little different than the rest of you, I'm 6' maybe 6'1" and 160 lbs. Which to just about any definition of normal is very skinny. Howevere, I ride steeplechase (race horses over jumps) every spring and have to make weight for the races. I'll start working on it soon, but I should be down to about 145 by March. Then in June, I'll eat all I want and come back to 160.

Trust me it'll catch up to you...I'm 35, and been married for the past 13 years. The past 3-4 years I have put on about 10-15 lbs. I'm 72", and 185, so I'm at a good weight, except for the fact that there's about 10 lbs right around my middle that I would love to get rid of. It will happen. I used to be able to eat whatever, whenever, not so much anymore. Enjoy it now, I did!!! In fact, I was too slim to join the Air force, my recruiter had to put me on a special diet of protein drinks(yuck), and I ate alot of bananas, peanut butter, and worked out hardly ever, needed to gain weight, not necessarily muscle.

I dropped 25 lbs last year to be a little more nimble and flexible on the bike. It took three months of diet to make it happen but it was worth it and I can maintain it now by watching my caloric intake daily. I too work 14hrs a day from the time I depart till the time I arrive home and flying a desk pays well but shit it really hurts the mid section! I found that diet was the only answer as there was no time for working out and if I did lift, I just gained mass.

Eat often (every 3hrs), never after 7:30pm and keep it real (fruit, rice cakes for snacks and veggies). No crap sodas even if they are diet, that stuff will kill you!:alien:

I'm 40, 72" and 185 lbs. I could be a tad lighter but then the missus complains that my arse has disolved. I'm just glad she still cares!:focus:

Good Topic!!!! Most riders look to their machine for increased performance but rarely in the mirror. This is generally where the weakest point is located, in my experience.

I'm down to 230 from 270 in 2005...but divorce can do that to ya, am I right?

(Actually, I lost 165lbs in one day, she's gone.)

Still at 230lbs and 6'0", there's a little more to burn through. I've leveled off and have to really make the effort to get the number down.

The high protein/low carb diet has been good to me as well, but I agree with the others that without a commitment to hydration one can really wrack a body goofy. It happened to me when I didn't up my intake nearly enough for a hot spell and it threw me for a real loop.

My target weight is still over 200, probably 215-210. Slowly but surely, I'll make it there, probably May. After that, I'll drag the extra stone or two around with me. At 215, my BMI is closer to good than really bad anyway.

I'm 26, 6'3" and 260 but a big strong guy. Gained some weight after a couple of brain surgeries. My ideal weight is 220-230. Should be there in a couple of months. One of my problems is that I gain weight, but it doesn't affect my speed or lifting.

At 37 yrs 6'1" I am 185lbs down from 215 which was definitely to heavy for my frame. Having kids and watching your wife put on 65 or more lbs each time for me was a serious psychological fat pusher/beer slogger for me. I ate whatever whenever somewhat to bury some kiddie lifestyle depression.:frown:

My only real advice is if you aren't happy with your body/self, try martial arts. I was in a non-commercial Shotokan Karate group only 4 of us and a Philopino(?) Sensei for like 7 years and it changed my life. The first 2-3 months you will be frustrated, getting your body to kick and punch etc... especially if you have been inactive takes some effort, but I PROMISE within 3 months you will be right as rain and on your way to eating bacon on bacon if you work out 3 or more times/week. One of my Sempei(seniors) took off 150lbs in 1.5 yrs. He was built like Michael Chiklis on TV but fatter and within a few years was a total terror. No one could hurt him.:fencing:

I commercial fish in alaska and every summer for the past 5 years I've dropped 40lbs only to put it back during the winter. When I return in the fall I always have to monkey with my suspension because I've lost so much and the bike feels fast again.lol.. In the spring I feel like a sumo on a moped.

I am trying the Southbeach diet and have lost 12 pounds in the first two weeks. I am 30, 6'2" and was 207 when I started. I'm at 195 now and I'm thinking somewhere in the 185 to 190 range is where I want to be.
This diet has worked out great for me because I can still eat a lot of the things I like and the portions of proteins and most veggies aren't restricted so I can eat until I'm full. It's about eating high protein, low fat, and the right balance of carbs to make your body do what you want it to.
So far so good, I'll keep y'all posted.
