    Hi!

yesterday, i picked up an '06 VFR abs. read the manual cover to cover, and have a few question.

-did your bike come with painted covers that go over the bolt holes for the rear grab rails? (for when you remove them)

-it says there is a spot to put the manual under the seat. but without folding the manual in several places, i cant find a spot.

-tool kit: did you get more than a spanner and handle?

-headlights: i see that tehre are TWO H7 high beams, and TWO H4 *DUAL* filament low beams.

when i turn on the high beams, the 2 H7's light up, but the H4's dont. the second filament in the H4 never lights up. dealer talls me this is "normal" but i am confused as to why Honda would use a dual filament bulb only to never use the second filament:confused:

other than that, the bike is awesome. most fun i have had in a while :)

    1. yes i got bolt hole covers for my pearl white bike,
    2. i can get my manual under the frame to the rear, you have to bend it and tuck it an it will lay flat in there it is a pita to put in and to get out but I do it anyway (builds Character)
    3. no all I got was the handle and spanner for adjusting chain tension.
    4. Yep that is normal, and to explain why Honda does anything for whatever reason is beyond me. I have an 86 VFR700F2. It has white rims, you can't keep em clean. Nope, can't do it. Ask Me how I Know, no don't ask LOL

It is a Great Bike and I Love it. I don't have the ABS, never had a bike with one. I do like the linked system it works great seems to me to be perfectly balanced when stopping never had any problems. did have a fan thermostat switch go out, dealer replaced no problems, no cost
It a lot of fun to ride

Mine is an 05 and it came with the covers, full tool kit (crappy quality) and cowl. Could be a Canada/US difference but I doubt it. Yes it is a bit of a challenge to get the manual put away but it does fit if you bend it a little.

As for the headlights. Most probably it is cheaper for Honda to use a two filament bulb from another vehicle than to build a new single filament bulb for the VFR.

ditto here .... The manual tells you everything that comes with the bike. If I'm not mistaken every new bike comes with a kit that will set the chain, remove the plastics, change the oil, air filter, and plugs. At least, that has been my experience in the past ... the quality of the kits however is QUESTIONABE (read crappy). Go back to your dealer ... some have a tendency to lose stuff ... and get what you paid for, :lever:

i got the cowl on the back, and i confirmed te '06 tool kit ONLY comes with the spanner to adjust the chain... im a auto technician, so i have MEEEELIONS of tools so it shouldnt be too hard to work on the bike...

so far, only thing im missing are the grab rail covers, manual bag, and a manual that says 2006 instead of 2007...

oh, and i bought the bike for 10.2K, keep in mind its an ABS model.

    A 2004 VFR800A Perspective @ 39000 miles

My ride is a 2004 VFR800A. My bike color is asphalt and the wheels are perpetually dirty. The ABS is invisible best I can tell, for 2004 the VTec is a bit ragged around the edges, sort of like a horse straining at the bit around 6200k rpm. Once you get accustomed to, it is kinda exciting. Rear seat cowling came with. Far nicer looking with it on. Manual will lay flat once tucked it. Placed in an additional ziplock back just in case.

Brakes: Linked. Got 29000 miles on rear and a shade more on front. The front left and rear wear out before the right front. My battery lasted roughly two years and stopped cold along the road in NH when it died. Keep an eye on it. When starting becomes irratic: say it tries starting then stops and your clock and trip resets battery death in my case was a couple months away. Honda's Road Service had a guy out even up at the entrance to Mount Washington in NH in reasonable time given where he came from.

Anyway enjoy the bike, it offers a great ride. Rode from Jacksonville, FL to Virginia Beach, VA one day stopping for gas, rain suit on rain suit off stuff like that. 13 hours if I recall.

At 36000 miles this past December the valves were all in spec. Funny thing, though . . . make sure your shop carries the tools required for checking the VTec valves when needed. Currently at 39040 miles and nothing has broken.
Just battery, chains, brakes, tires , air and oil filters, oil, radiator fluid, and changed to Superwhite Headlamps since I ride all year anytime of the day or night.

    ~
