Took exhaust system off Thursday. Took to exhaust system installers that afternoon. One guy takes a look at the cat and says we will just cut pipes off at entrance and make it easier to clean out. Then I reply will you be able to weld them back on at precisely the same position. He says oh yes. In a moment or two another guy looks and says "do not do that, just open it up and clean it out leavin all pipes in tact". This makes me feel much better. They tell me to come back Friday and they will have it done. Great! This shop is about an hour away from where I live. Go back FRiday, guess what some Dilbert has cut the pipes off the cat. The guy who first suggested doing it the correct way says "I'm sorry but you must bring your bike to the shop to fit up everything correctly". You can imagine how hard it is too keep my cool at this point. Have to recruit people to help load bike in back of pickup, then go all the way back over there for the third time. Then wallow around on a dirty shop floor putting system back on. They tack weld everything , then I have to take it all back off for final welding, then put it all baCK ON. Anyway I now have a cleaned cat. Sound is a little better but hardly any louder. Have also installed Power Commander. Have not had a chance to see what if any performance gains There are. Will report on that later. Moral of story don't let them cut your pipes off. Take care BBuck
Hey BBuck, I'm looking to take to my cat with a cutting wheel (sounds nasty - here kitty kitty! ) in the next couple of months. I'm also lining up a PCIII with some dyno time and then throwing in some HPC (similiar to Jet Hot) of the headers. Plus a DNA air filter. Think I'm going to go with the filter, o2 eliminators, PCIII and mapping first, then attack the cat and have the headers coated once the cat is welded back together. Then a bit more tweaking of the mapping. I'm really interested to read what the outcome of all your work was. Cheers,
Hey Skidvicious, Greetings will let you know about gains with clean cat and PC III usb after my seat of the pants testing. Let me know how your new air filter system works out for you. Take care BBuck
