In reading Motorcyclist's new issue I saw they had used this system and it looks pretty nice. I have a tailpack, but nothing so large or versatile as this, or with a frame which is great to attach to.

I'm trying not to buy the hardbags due to cost$ , but don't know if my soft panniers will work w/Gen 6 w/Staintune pipes. Worried about heat.

Any ideas? I want to be able to haul tent, thermarest and gear etc...and I hate the top trunks they are too huge for my taste.
    Thanks from Virginia! :tea:

I've got the ventura system. I use both the 35L and 45L bags together, but there's no reason you couldn't use the 45L bag facing forwards and pile your gear on the rack facing rearwards.

OR, if you want to go really big, get the 56L rally-pack.

I have the system - I have used it on multiple bikes for years. The rack/rails bolts on/off in 5 minutes tops - even when you are sipping a beer. I bolt it on for a trip and take it off when I'm home. The bag goes on and off in about 10 seconds. It is secure, doesnt fly around, and wont scratch paint.

I prefer this setup over hard bags on sporty bikes. I just think hard bags on smaller bikes just add unneeded weight. I am going to use this for many years to come. What's cool is - You get a new ride? Just buy the rail system for it and your good to go. The rails run about 100 bucks. Once you buy the bags they can be used on anything. It's the way to go. :first:

Oh yeah - I have had my fill of loose soft packs on the market - there may be some good ones but IMHO they all suck.

Hey Rob - How's it going?

Thanks guys-- sounds like an enthusiastic thumbs up:rockon: More objective than a magazine for sure! I think I'll get some before hard luggage for sure.

Both great ideas. I had a rack on my CBR1000 for while, trifling damn thing but for camping nothing touched it. Install time key(sounds quick withabeer!)
I agree about not using bags MelloDude, but long trips I'm such a damn gearhead/self sufficiency nut I'll need them. I mean you need Wild Turkey and ammo and.... :caked:

One probably obvious question: My soft luggage won't work with a Gen6 with Staintunes will it? I can't think of a way to keep heat off.

    Thanks again gents:tea:

I went on a trip with some friends who rented 6th gens. They used softsides and tied them down the best they could. Off and on we would have to stop because of one coming loose or the friggin pipe burning a hole in it.

Like my previous comment - no thanks on softsides.
