I have allways used the centerstands more, lubing and checking the chan, oil changes, tire changes, checking tires and you can sit on the bike at bike night, so I did away with the side stand and it's very heavy side stand mount, with my ride height raised 1.5 inches it goes up on the centerstand with 2 fingers.

There's one guy in Kansas who has retrofitted casters on his Beemer's power centerstand. He does wheelies, stoppies and what he is calling whirlies on the bike.

Its a good move. You'll be glad you did it. While I'd never wish bad to another biker, there's no more wondering if its gonna fall off the side stand or how you're going to make on the road repairs.

    $100 well spent.

I missed the centrestand on my VF500....and my 2nd gen didn't have one at all.

I use the one on my 4th gen all the time.

I sent the them the cash....so hopefully it shows up. He/she had listed it in an eBay auction multiple times (at least 3 that I know of) and it never sold. I bid fairly high on it this last time thinking that I might win, but nobody ever bid it up high enough to meet the reserve. I emailed them asking if it was for sale and that's how we connected. Hopefully it's not someone in Zimbabwe scamming people on rare center stands.....but I don't think so. The seller had an extensive eBay history that was pretty positive. We'll see. Thanks again all.

you'll like a center stand. I always use my center stand when I get off the bike. Rarely use the side stand. More chances of a tip over in dirt, hot asphalt etc. Makes it real easy to double check chain tension anytime.

y'know, i dont mean to be a wet blanket or anything, but you say this centerstand has been listed multiple times??? i cant help but to think thats a little suspect, considering anybody who has a 2nd gen and knows how rare a centerstand is typically jumps on it with a quickness....

all im sayin is to make sure you check this dude out and arent getting screwed. i really hope you end up with the hardware (hell, i consider mine invalueable), but I also hate shitbags on ebay taking advantage of ppl who are just out looking for a good deal.

Yeah, I hear what you're saying. I'm normally pretty cautions about doing transactions online with individuals (ebay/craigslist/etc.)...this is a bit of a gamble.

I think the issue with the stand being relisted a few times on eBay was due to the way they listed it. Their reserve was set high and bids started at $0....and there was no "buy it now" option. People would bid the price up at the end, but it never got high enough before the end of the auction....I could have bid $300 on it and wouldn't have won the auctions because others just weren't bidding high enough to push my bid up to the reserve. I'm convinced that if they had put a "buy it now" it would have been snatched up the first time around for sure.

Fingers crossed that it will come and all will be well. Will report in when/if it does.

If this is the same dude on feebay I have seen him yank and relist the same stand several times, sounds shifty to me.

Center stands pros outweigh the cons in my book, makes numerous things so much easier.

Hey Dukiedook....I recognize you from SOHC4.net. Howdy!

Again, fingers crossed on the purchase. I have the seller's name, phone, e-mail, and street address. If things go wrong, I guess I'll have to gather a posse and go to WI and claim the stand or my $$. My gut tells me that won't be necessary, though.

Well, the center stand showed up today and appears to be all that it was advertised to be. Newly powercoated and including all necessary hardware from what I can tell.

Now allow me to explain to you how much of an idiot I am....

When initially climbing down under my bike to see just how a center stand would attach to the frame (crawling around on the right side of the bike) I failed to pay much attention to how my aftermarket Yosh exhaust wraps around the center stand mount down there on the left side. DUH!

Basically, I have a new-to-me center stand that I can't use now....unless I revert to an original exhaust. Not sure I want to go there as I like the sound of this exhaust and the carbs are all rejetted appropriately as it sets now.

    It's official. I am a moron.

I may be interested in this center stand. If I end up buying the bike I am looking at. Assuming it fits on a 86

Damn Indy, you didn't mention you had a Yosh pipe on it, if you would have mentioned that we could have saved you some money.

Easy mistake to make, but i suspect a good search on our site here first would have turned up the info you needed.

It's an obsecure point, the incompatibility of yosh exhaust and centerstand on gen 2, so where was Toe Cutter (who would have known) when you needed him, out riding ???

Well I clearly should have poked around down under the bike a bit more and paid attention to how the exhaust wrapped around the back of the mount. Live and learn I suppose. I figure I'll just sell it which shouldn't be too hard to do....hopefully.
