    Nice! Do it to it!

Now the question is....what are you going to use the spare plastic and metal for? I fabricated a mount for my American flag on the house and used other parts to make bar end mirrors...

    easy

I went to Home Depot and bought an aluminum strap. Cut it the length of the license plate. Drill 2 small holes into the existing upper fender lined up with the license plate holes. Easy to do, and unless you look really close, you won't even see the aluminum bracket, and the 2 holes are also covered.

I too am anxious to see the end result. The stock exhaust and tail ruin the looks for me. The exhaust can be replaced, but to date, I have not seen a fender eliminator - either aftermarket or homegrown.

Well all done for the night. Not too bad at all but I kept changing my game plane. In the end I think I got a good one though. Ended up recycling all the parts off the oem metal licence plate bracket so in the end the only parts it cost me was 6 x 10-24 bolts , nuts, washers and lock washer. oh and some black paint. Everything else I salvaged from the old bracket.

I think I might see about how I like it for a few days but I'd really like to cut that rear mounting point for the hardbags off to slim out the rear a little bit. Hell, I'm never gonna use the hard bags anyway. I took all pics for the steps I did and could do a write up if somebody wanted it. If everybody thinks it looks like $hit then I wont waste my time.

Its getting late but here are the final pics. Bags would still be functional as is. Sorry bout the garage mess. I was a man possessed.

Thanks, but now its begging and pleading for a hugger. Got an Idea when I was out checking it out. Now that the license plate light is just sitting there, I used that lead to hard wire my radar detector. Worked well.

I like it. Looks like what I wouldda done.
If it were me, I'd leave the bag mounts. They look like they are good spots for bunjees or what have you for the longer trips.
And you never know, 5 years from now you might get a smoking deal on some used hard bags?

That definitely looks better. It would be nice to get some more pictures of it with the seat on and from the side, but it no doubt is better. I would be interested in the details. From what I've seen, the original fender is just one big molded piece of plastic, so I'm assuming there was some cutting involved.

Yea I took pics every step of the way so if I get time I'll do a writeup. It would be interesting to see how people approach it differently. I'm sure I'm not in the minority for saying I didnt like the oem fender. At gas stations random people would come up and say "Hey, nice bike! Whats the deal with that rear end though?"
