hey guys, so here is the story i will try to be as specific as possible this is on a 1987 vfr interceptor

3 days ago at aprox 11:30pm i went out to go to the store on a quick run... the bike was compleatly dead.. no lights no nothing.. so i push started it.. it popped off and went on the first try but my rpm gauge was bouncing all over and acting very funny the lights were also very dim but everything else seemed to work alright so i drove.. and noticed that every time i pushed the foot break peddle that my gauge would lvl out and sit where it should and the lights would get very bright (as the should- not like extra too bright) by the end of my ride the issues with the rpm gauge and the lights was gone it seemed that the battery had charged and everything was running well.. when i got home i turned it off and on several times and everything looked good... the next morning just 8 hrs later at 7:30am the battery was dead again and i tried to push start again.. it did start and all the gauges and lights did the same ting but this time it only worked for 5 min or so after which it almost felt like the bike was running low on fuel.. it sputtered and was not responding to my throttle i would try to accell and it would take 2-5 seconds to respond.. after which it died and has not started since..

after talking with some people they sugjested it may be a bad ground, the R/R, i have also had water find its way into my fuel tank is there any chance that could also be the issue?

just a jumping point anyone have any ideas or thoughts.. thanks for the help guys..

Sounds like it's time for a new battery - what you describe can be caused by a shorted cell - the battery is discharging itself.

well is there anything that would cause the battery to go bad like that.. cauz the battery is only about 3 months old.. i just bought a new one when i had the water in the gas problem.

thank you for your input :) everything helps and if i can cross one thing off the list it just makes finding the solution that much easier
