I have a Unigo single-wheel trailer I use with my Bandit. Works great. Now I want to tow it with my '03 VFR but can't find a hitch anywhere. Anyone have one? Or know of a source? Or have a photo of one? I've got a pretty good fabricator in town who made the Suzuki hitch based on a plan from Unigo but the frame on the Honda is nothing like it.

I wouldn't think you could because of the swing arm. Unless you mounted it way up by the swing arm mount, but that would be too much stress on the steel going all that way to the hitch.... I dunno, I will bother some biker geeks around me and see if anything peeks my interest.

Here we go again. Use the search feature and you'll find posts by a troll who was fascinated by trailer hitches

I posted this question after a search failed to produce an answer to this particular question about this particular model. I'm hoping for more constructive responses like the first one. Or perhaps the gentleman from Colorado can help me find the information I seek.

Well, that thread wasn't much help. For one thing, the bike in question was an earlier generation than my '03. No commercial outfit, including Hitch USA, lists a hitch for 6th Gen VFRs.

I know some think the idea of towing a trailer is silly but the UniGo is outstanding. I've used it for years behind my Bandit and it works just great. With the one wheel and the universal joint the trailer follows along extremely well. The only adverse effects are slower acceleration and braking and a resistance to mid-turn course changes.

So I'll just hope that someone out there has had some success with the hitch issue. Thanks for the input so far.

I've seen that trailer and it looks like a good solution if you have to have a trailer. I thought they sold a simple hitch mechanism and then you just have to figure out how to connect it to the bike? Using a Givi Wingrack might provide a platform to connect a hitch plus the ability to hold bags.

Well, that's an interesting idea. I have the Honda hard bags and rack on the bike but don't know whether it's strong enough. Food for thought, though.

with a hollow rear axle, why couldn't you use a rod that went thru there and that formed one side of a triangle? So on the ends, two rods then came to a point beyond the tire, where there would be the connecting point to the trailer?

Uhh.... Spike? See that hole in the axle does this really neat thing when you ride the bike. It spins...So unless you had some kind of bearing assembly in it that ain't gonna work.

yes, of course it spins, obviously that would have to be engineered in. Either by having the rod thru the axle, "float" in a bearing, of some sort. Or fix the rod in the axle and have it spin on the other ends. I can see pros and cons to both. I am just trying to spit ball a solution here, you know throw an idea out, someone else takes that and modifies it or tweaks it. People bring in different ideas from their different backgrounds. And a pretty good solution may be found.

The hard bag rack is attached to an arm off the rear footpeg bracket. Does anyone feel confident that attaching a trailer hitch bracket to this in place of the hard bag rack would work? Obviously I wouldn't be able to use both the bags and the trailer but the trailer holds a lot more anyway.

I like that pic where the dude takes his parts bike wherever he goes. Makes me wonder what else might go on a trailer? A 50" plasma for Oprah re-runs?
