Previous to this I only used it in emergency applications as a last resort and with straight water and Water Wetter......Well come to think of it this is one of those situations isn't it?

Straight H2O with a small amount of water wetter will definitely carry more heat than a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze, the big downside is water wetter doesn't do much to raise the boiling point. The standard coolant mixture plus a 1.1 atmosphere radiator cap raises the boiling point to 260 or so as I remember. With your setup if the engine gets really hot you are going to lose coolant pretty quickly once the water starts to boil. If you can stay below that point, then this will make your engine run cooler. Just don't leave the bike outside this winter!

Ok.....more cooling system mods coming but made real improvements with sealing up around the radiators with high temp high density foam we use on the tractor repower's for just this very reason. Eliminating any air leaks (particularly on the right side) has got me between 207 and 209 degrees at 85-90mph. Down from 223-224....much happier with the way things are going. Have another plan in motion (besides the VTR fan and 195 temp switch) and will post that up is I go and will exhaust all cooling options.

Did I mention V I D E O? Moving pictures and SOUND are in order here... Hell, use a cell phone in your driveway at this point... I'd just like to hear this thing, how different she sounds, if at all.

    A flat oot run

I know many will get angry with me for this but it had to happen. I live in an agricultural area and long run's through the rice fields abound........and they did today. Hehehehehe....will not state my misbehavior in a number but the top end previously posted on my speedometer was shamed wickedly. :hss: This thing is crazy fun now. I am having to relearn the bike as it is very difficult to ride in the first three gears (first is f'n hopeless) and throttle control is an understatement and more difficult than any other bike I have ridden but it is getting better fast. Practice makes perfect ....ish.

Maybe I hit it at the wrong time of year but the last time I took a high speed run through the rice fields in the North Sacramento area the insects declared war on my VFR, helmet & leathers...

PS One of my favorite VFR threads of all time

Dude, I don't care if you are oiled up, wearing your birthday suit and a bow tie; I will not even notice, as it's the bike I wanna see/hear!

Though I'm sure someone will point out to me after the third or fourth time watching the video what you are, or are not wearing, so by all means, make it fun for all!

Yeah the bugs are just a way of life this time of year. In the afternoon heat they are not nearly as bad as morning and evening. One of the worst things of heading oot to Reg's ,Long's or Motot GP, is the early morning ride through the bugs....no need to clean the visor until well into Sacramento.

I just hope you're not running lean. It's bad enough to run lean on a natural aspirated engine. Can't imagine what it'll do to an charged engine. I'd get a bung welded on and a A/F ratio gauge installed.

    Inline coolers

Installed two of the four inline coolers today and ordered the VTR fan blade. The other two coolers will require a bracket to be made to mount them and I will gather the aluminum for that this weekend but wanted to try all of these in steps to document the improvements as the go on and what is gained by them. Alone I think they are not worth much but as a group I think I may see a noticeable gain in cooling.

    Disaster strikes

At this point I filled the cooling system and was warming the bike to purge the air oot and reassemble and go for a ride to see if the addition of the two coolers was measurable. ............. Spilled a bit of coolant and it splattered on the tank so I grabbed my towel I keep handy for just such things......right hand wiping tank and left hand holding the towel as not to get snagged by the belt as it was spinning.......well I just got back from the hospital......I AM A FUCKING IDIOT.....REALLY VERY UNHAPPY WITH MYSELF.....REALLY......never took my eyes off the tank as I polished it and oot of the blue my left hand gets wanked......really thought I was holding the towel well oot of the way....that's what I get for thinking. Will change my name to finger cutter first thing Monday. Be warned....it is ugly from this point......the weak and young need to put a Barney video in.

came home and located the missing part of my finger still in the towel.
