Where I live there is a recession going on. Maybe all the rest of you got the platinum retirement package?
Maybe I was just stupid and worked for all the bad people?
I do not know any of motorcycle friends that can afford $566.00 foot rests.

I am sorry now that I said anything.

Maybe I exposed myself as being cheap or poor.
I will just keep dreaming about expensive foot pegs,exhausts,etc.,.

I have to agree with Invisible cities, My Pazzo Levers are worth every penny I paid for them. The adjustability, Improved operation and yes the aesthetics are a major improvement over the stock levers. There is also the manufacturers cost to consider. The number of parts they can expect to sell to VFR owners is very small compared to liter or 600 cc sport bikes, and a Rear-set for a VFR is unique as far as I know. You should try buying custom parts for a Harley, $3K for a chrome brake set. Ultimately Insanity is not spreading. It's pervasive.:cool::cool::cool:

I guess everything is relative..I had to wait until October of last year to purchase my 07 RWB because I didn't really think I could "afford" it until then. I don't own a big $50k boat or Corvette so at 42 years old I don't mind dumping a few bucks into the things that keep me sane. It's cheap therapy in my humble opinion and I'll keep dreaming about the next sexy part.

Can I have a refund on the last 20 minutes of my life?

I say if you want it, and can afford it, or it is that high of a priority in your life, then go buy whatever you want. But don't dare complain about finances if you buy high priced or pretty parts for your ride, when acceptable lower priced sufficient parts are available. BTW, I buy over priced things too if I really want them.

Respectfully, the description of being 'overpriced' is off base, IMO. There is a reason why these items have a higher price point.

Of course this isn't to sneeze at a lower priced item that is quality made but there is a tangible value to the aesthetics and the level of machining that Pazzo, CRG and Sato show, that is beyond the pragmatics of function.

    the real point is:
At 40 years old I buy what I want ... but not always when I want.

I also have no want for a set of $500+ rearsets or a $1500 exhaust system.

I also had no want to spend over $5000 on kids braces but i did/am.

as for the Kid working all summer for parts for his sportbike...... GOOD for him.. It seems to me most kids feel entitled to stuff ...or just steal to get it..

Motorcycle'n aint no cheap hobby .. you would think that the OP at his age would have already figured this out.

    I have an Idea though.
Donald you buy the CNC equipment Mill, lathe & the equip to do ano. & we here at VFRworld will let you know what we want made & how fancy we want it & you sell it for dirt cheap............OK?

I'll have dibs of first order: I will take a set of rearsets exactly like the Sato's posted above in RED anodized please for lets say $125. sounds fair to ME

all I'm asking is you to spend $70K+ for equipment + R&D + materials+ building to house said equipment+insurance+any employee costs+electric+misc. expenses+ect. & you sell dirt cheap parts.

you can live off ramen noodles right?

I agree with everyone but Don. I just don't feel right without resting my feet on golden foopegs. Just the other day this harleydood asked me about my black one's. What I didn't tell him was that they were stock and I painted them black. Now I feel all guilty and shit.

I wonder if the dudes who have cages that are worth half a thou and wheels worth a thou and a half read this stuff about bikes?

So if ya buy some of these golden farkle imported gadgets and low side can you buy another one for half or are the Italians going to stick it up your tush for a pair?

DB.. Photoshop is good for some B&W. Google "Harald Heim" for his website. He has a B&W program that whups ass on the one's written by the big boys. Free trials too. About $50.00 or just enough to buy a rattlecan or two of gold Hammerite and some aluminum primer.

As many have said, I spend my money where I want too. Family always comes first but once that's taken care of, its OK to splurge on me. And again, as was said, its relative to what you like. My bike is worth what, $3,000? I ain't dropping $500 on a set of foot rests. But conversely, I spend lots of time on my boat and fishing competitively, and I won't think twice about dropping $500 on a reel (and then some).

What it's really about is the territorial imperative. Probably started with monkeys staking out a really nifty banana tree and protecting it from the other monkeys. We do farkles. If monkeys had farkles they might give up on bananas. I will give that thought some thought before I commit to one of those
"That's my story and I'm sticking to it" deals.

This is an example of why we should let DB decide what is cool and what ain't on his bike. The bike shown is not really a Harley but a VFR. The pic is real but they hid the extension cord behind the bike.

Now you HAVE gone too far. (Rhinestone HD)

    True story
When Henry Ford made his first cars and figured out how to mass produce them he could make lots of money but the people who were making them could still not afford them. So what he did was double the workers pay and then he was able to sell all the cars he could mass produce. Also other companies started to copy Henry Ford and raising workers pay allowing workers to buy more goods.

Now we have CAD-CAM and cannot do what Henry Ford could do...-make cheap parts.
Set up costs are too high. LOL
