I love my '91, which only has 53k on it and has been a totally great bike, but I wonder if I am getting to the point where I will have difficulty finding mechanics who can work on it, and especially parts for it. A couple of years ago I had a hard time finding radiator hoses and I wonder what is next. Any thoughts on this? BTW, I don't and don't want to work on it myself. I am in Chicago if that matters.

    Thanks

It does matter if you are in Chicago. Of the several places one can buy parts for your 91, pick one that has either free shipping or shipping based on mileage.

One good source IMO:1991 Honda VFR750F INTERCEPTOR Parts, 1991 Honda VFR750F INTERCEPTOR OEM Parts - BikeBandit.com

Many many private mechanics out there who can work on your bike. Less overhead than dealers.

What needs done is to hit your local "bike night" and ask questions.

Gotta say too, the real "wrenches" on this BB are probably scratching thier heads a little.

Agreed. The low dollar kids at dealerships won't be the ones to take your bike to.

Factory service manuals come up on Ebay frequently for around $30

Have your own factory service manual to supply to a good small shop when you take your bike in.

Lots of shops (dealershhips as well as smaller shops) have rules about taking on a bike thats older than ten years. I have seen 2008 models that are so trashed and dirty my 20 year old bike on its worst day was clean compared to them!

I would fight someone to the deth for my Third Gen Bike. Nuff Said

Older stuff is better than the current stuff IMHO
