I am a proud new father to a 2006 vfr (my 1st vfr and bike). It has duel two brothers mufflers. However only one is connected. The other is an actual muffler just not connected. To keep everything looking equal I guess. Is there any benifit to connecting this muffler? If so can I purchase a mid pipe to run to it or will I have to make one my self. What are the benifits of the duels.

Single exits run better due to better exhaust scavenging, duals just look cool, thats about it.

    2006 VFR question?

    Epicsoldier,

It appears to be the same. However, I do not have the extra storage device but an actual muffaler identicle to the one that is connected. Ill go take some pictures today and attempt to upload them. Thanks for ithe info.

It's weird that it looks like a normal pipe but it isn't hooked up, I think I have seen that while browsing around the internet, either way it'll be okay without it.

although if it is a normal pipe and they are just slip ons, that use the stock y pipe then I would think you could get the stock Y pipe and attach that extra pipe, maybe someone else on here would know the answer for sure? I haven't had my pipes off my bike yet so I'm not 100% sure.

I should have re-worded what I originally said, the OEM pipes aren't true duels, but exhaust gas still comes out both of them.

Penny, if no one else chimes in with an answer to hooking the other pipe up with stock equipment, try the guys over at vfrdiscussion.com , there are quite a few people who modify their bikes over there, Pictures would help alot

Separate exhausts always have more power.

Think of all the racing motorcycles.
They almost never have 4 into 1 or 2 into 1 exhausts.
There are some exceptions but all of the great racing motorcycles always
have separate exhausts for each cylinder.
