I am thinking of buying a used VFR 800 and my major concern is how is this bike for riding with a passenger.I would like comments from riders and passengers. My intention would be mostly rides of 200 miles or less.
    THANKS
    Eddie

200 or less is fine, thou its no Wing and if your passenger is say 140lbs or less all the better. I've done a many 1 tank two up, just realize that you are two up which means, no hanky panky, the suspension won't like it. LOL what I mean is no aggressive corning stuff, so go get that VFR and have some fun... BTW welcome here.

Welcome Ed. I recently responded to a thread regarding using the VFR for touring. I personally do not like riding two up on a sports bike (too tempting to get loose). I gotta agree if you have a lady of 110lbs - 150lbs and 5ft 10in or shorter then it is ok on the VFR (that also depends on how big you are too). Definately upgrade the rear shock and have the forks done - just me being particular. When it comes to touring two up in comfort you cannot beat an old GoldWing for two up riding.

Oh yea good point there, 5' 4" or less is even better. remember a time when I took my daughter out for a spin at the time she was 12 @ 5'2" 85lbs, bike work just fine, so yea the light the better..

i agree with the above guys. I ride 2 up maybe 10% of the time. My wife is around 120 lbs and 5'8" so it's ok with her. My son rode with me back in the summer and he's bigger and the bike felt weird to me. My stepson is very small and light and it's not like having a passenger. I can ride about the same as normal and go all day with him on. My wife and I have ridden all the way up hwy 1 to monterey with no trouble then back down the 101 the same day. she was pretty tired, but no serious monkey butt. I like the suggestion of a different shock if you're gonna do it a lot, though. I think 800 is plenty big to handle it if you're not getting all wild, but a stiffer spring might help. I just dial my stock one a little stiffer and ride easier and don't seem to bottom it.

I don't ride two up often. In fact, I have probably only done so on 3 or 4 occasions. I just find that it upsets my balance and makes me a bit uncomfortable. If I did it more, I might be more comfortable with it, but as it stands I don't. I would agree that when riding two up the rear needs to be dialed up for the added weight of a passenger.

When I ride two up, I put the luggage on and take the vtx, its hard to tell someone is back there, they can lean back on the trunk, I don't have to worry if they are hangin on, take off as fast as I want and still go thru the twisties just about as fast. I havent had a rider on the back of my vfr yet, and to be honest I really dont want one.
