Hello, I am new to this site but I have visited the site several times trying to trouble shoot various things. I have a 1986 vfr700 interceptor that I am having problems with. The bike had sat for a couple years and I have gotten the tank cleaned out and everything seems to be working ok, but now when i turn the key on the 10 amp ignition start fuse pops. I believe my fuel pump is bad because when i disconnect it i dont blow the fuse. Also before it started blowing the fuse it wouldnt pump any fuel and it would get hot. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

OK, i have had the same crap b4, so i've discovered one fix, if it works for you.

The central solenoid plunger in the pump is frozen in place cuz of long non-use.

First remove the black plastic cap over the electrical parts. Next find the central pump shaft in the middle of the deal. Very carefully--after shooting some WD-40 or similar down the center hole--use a pliers to lift the plunger up against some spring pressure several times to free the stuck parts. With some luck your pump will work again and fuses will not blow.

Yes, it should. Next possible fix is to use some fine sandpaper between the contact points, but you need to be super-careful not to bend those fragile mounting points.

The Mitsubishi pump is not uncommon as it powers many different Honda models as well as some from Kawasaki and other Japanese manufacturers. You could get a used one from hundreds of junkyards.

Already tried sanding the contacts and that didnt work either. I have noticed that alot of the fuel pumps look similar but wasnt sure if they would work. I have found a few on ebay but not the same year or instead of a vfr its a vf, not sure if they will work.
