How far off is the speedo on the 6th Gen bikes? I commuted my newly purchased 2004 for the first time today and I was cruising at 75 and cars were blowing by me. In my car, if I am at 75 I'm one of the faster cars. Speed limit on the road is 65 by the way.
I moved my speed up to 80 and still seemed to be a bit slower than traffic. What should I expect the disparity to be from actual speed to my VFR speedo?

My 2004 seemed to be about 8% fast when I checked it with my GPS.
When I first got the bike I was completely amazed at how much faster I could comfortably negotiate curvy roads.
Yeah, it does corner better, but no where as near as much better as I thought.
FWIW, The odometer seems to be pretty accurate. Just the speed is way off.

I just checked mine the other day vs my GPS, under 100km/hr it was pretty close. Up around 140km/h my GPS was showing just over 130km/h.

8% is pretty significant. Might need to invest in a speedo healer.

Used SpeedoDRD module to correct the speedo, but the ODO now reads about 7% low..no prob, just add 7% to the mileage when computing the mpg.

My '07 registered 5 MPH slow from about 55 on up, so 80 was 75, 75 was 70, etc.

Mine is about 5mph slow as well. My dads BMW K1200 has the same issue and ironically the same percentage. It seems the faster you go the more inaccurate it gets, I usually just go an indicated 75 or 80 on the highway.

I put duct tape over my speedo. All I need is a tach!
