    Hey Ranger,

Doesn't the 5th already have one coil per cylinder? Are you hoping to get some extra HP? I guess you want to set this up like the coil packs on my BMW car where the coils are directly attached to the sparkplug? I wish I could use YOUTUBE at work!

Wow very cool. I had a few questions? Did you ever find out what the delta was between the OEM coil and the one you put in from the GSXR? Did you do a spark plug gap per test (yes the do change over time) and a post check of the spark plugs to see how they are burning? I am also curious if the engine power delivery change for the better and if the bike is getting better fuel mileage. I wonder if with a little experimentation if you might be able to tune with a different plug and gap if indeed these coil overs are producing more voltage to the plugs. Maybe a cooler plug might work better? Are you going to post a parts list for this project? Great job Ranger. :usa2:

The 5th gen is already two wired on their stock coils. 6th gens are 3 wired. The third wire (ground) that I've been told does something to trigger them but I'm looking at the schematics and it's just a ground wire where all ground wires attach to it.

Hows the performance from your "seat of the pants" dyno? Is the bike more responsive?

    Ebay.

The coils are from an '09 gsxr 750 and the connectors came off an '08 cbr 1000. The two prong Denso coils these bikes use have the same connectors.

You might want to wait until I get things smoothed out. I don't think these coils are going to work. I'm having the gerbils spin the wheel in my head extra hard right now. I'll update when I know more.

Just curiously wondering about the ohm reading. I would figure as long as you have your 100V coil spark, you would be fine. There is nothing I've read in the service manual about the ohms of the 5th gen. Just wondering. This coil over spark plug setup looks AWESOME! And congrats on your ability to do that for sure!!!!! Can't wait to see if you notice any difference in the performance, me also would like to make that upgrade.

I've had this idea for awhile now even had a guy quote me a price on building a set for me I think you'll be fine. There no doubt I will be copying your idea!

Well, we're just making sure everything is good. Just because the engine is running doesn't mean there's something not right.

Any bike with two prong connectors are most likely using Denso coil sticks. CBR's, Kawasakis, suzukis, etc. Just pick an inline 4.

Search in ebay coil connectors, coil harness, coil, etc
