    Hi Guys

If you remember my last thread, I was having noise issues on the vf750f 85' I own and through sounds heard on Youtube and descriptions I thought it was a cam chain tensioner issue.

Seeing the potential cost I decided for a complete tear down and during mid tear down I found under my Gas tank a broken Air-filter Cover that was off center and exposing the air-filter.

Since the noise increased as I revved the engine, never stopped happening even during idling hot or cold, it could make sense that the plastic just vibrated against the tank cover or another piece of the motorcycle at high rate causing the near identical noise.

    Anyone agree? - Picture Below

On Monday I'll be heading over to the Honda dealership, hopefully they have some in the back.

If it turns out to be the noise i'll make sure to reply so that way people know engine noise can be caused by a broken air filter case cover

I highly doubt they are gonna have an air filter cover for an 85... you may have to find a used one.

The place I go to has a huge warehouse of used parts from over the years, hopefully he's got 1 in the back.

If not it'll be one hell of a hard find lol

Get some ABS plastic and melt it with acetone. Instant ABS glue. LEGOS are made of ABS if you can't find sheets/strips of ABS.

Just to clarify, this will produce a solid enough bond by melting the pieces of plastic together right? or does it just bond it?

Either or if I can't find it at the dealership I'll be looking into that as my #2 option.

    Thanks!

Well I tried using some duct tape and got the engine starting again to still hear the noise so it's now pretty much guaranteed a cam chain tensioner.

There is a diamond in the rough though, found a new case cover! hah

So I'm back to tearing the bike down!
