Hello, I am new to this site but I have visited the site several times trying to trouble shoot various things. I have a 1986 vfr700 interceptor that I am having problems with. The bike had sat for a couple years and I have gotten the tank cleaned out and everything seems to be working ok, but now when i turn the key on the 10 amp ignition start fuse pops. I believe my fuel pump is bad because when i disconnect it i dont blow the fuse. Also before it started blowing the fuse it wouldnt pump any fuel and it would get hot. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

factory service manual has a test procedure but a blowing fuse sounds like a pretty good clue.

There is a 2psi pump at the auto parts store that Crusty got to work on his 2nd gen. I used the same pump on my 3rd gen but the mounting locations are different.

Thanks for responding. I tried jumping the wire like the manual says and still the pump does nothing.

I had a problem with an old RX-7 I have after storing it for close to 4 years. The pump wouldn't run hardly at all and before giving up on it I held my finger over the outlet and filled it with brake cleaner. Then I cover the inlet with another finger and shook the pump like a paint can. Did this a couple times and sure enough, it worked. It could of had something to do with the oil that was in the gas at the time since I was running the car on premix... long story.

Thanks I wil give that a try. Do you know if fuel pumps from the vf interceptors will work even tho they may be different years. I know alot of them look the same and are the same manufacturer.
