First off let me say hello. I have been reading this web site for about a year. Mid-May i purchased my first VFR. 2002, red, and very low miles. I have put about 1100 miles on it since getting it and am very impressed. Now I have a problem. Went out to go to work this morning turned on the ignition, everything acted normal. All lights came on and the fuel pump ran. Apon hitting the starter switch I heard a click under the seat and nothing. I lost all dash info, headlight , and even clock. Quickly checked 2 fuses near the battery in the dark and looked fine. Got home after work and checked the battery and the fuses with volt/ohm meter and seemed fine. I went to bikebandit.com and the part that clicks is called the starter magnetic. Is this the 30 amp fuse block problem that the VFRness will fix? any other information would be helpful

Are you absolutely certain that your 30 amp Main Fuse A is intact?

That 30 amp main buss fuse supplies power to the keyswitch (via the Red wire),which when turned to the ON position supplies power to the fuse box, which in turn supplies power to darn near every electrical circuit on the bike. If there's no power getting past that 30 amp Main Fuse A on the Red wire then nothing on your bike is going to work.

Main Fuse A is located under the Red electrical connector plug on the magnetic starter switch. The White arrow in this pic points to it.

No the VFRness is for the regulator/rectifier charging circuit. That electrical circuit is handled by Main Fuse B. The Green arrow in my pic points to it.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have 12.something volts at the main fuse when i turn the ignition on. Then when I plug it up and hit the starter switch and that starter magnet clicks, kind of like a fuse blowing sound, and I lose all lights, and does not start. The fuse looks good , but I did replace it, but same issue occurs

If the relay is clicking, then the fuse is good, but the battery or connections are bad. A relay usually clicks when there is not enough power to keep the circuit closed.

Put a test light on this Black wire on the magnetic starter switch, turn the key switch to the ON position and push the starter button. If you're seeing power on that Black wire with the starter button pushed than it sounds like your battery just doesn't have enough oomph left in it to start your bike.
