    1. I bought a jacket.
    2. The inside pocket seam separated.
    3. I called them to initiate a return for a refund and was informed that I was well within the return period and I would receive a full refund.
    4. I sent it back.
    5. Waited two weeks, did not receive a refund, so called to find out status.
    6. Was told I will have to wait 4 to 6 weeks because the jacket had been used so they had to go through a warranty process with Joe Rocket.
    7. Asked to speak to a supervisor and was told supervisor were busy and someone would call me back.
    8. Waited two days and no call from anyone.
    9. I went to their FB page last night and posted a comment explaining my dissatisfaction.
    10. A "Chris" asked for my info and gave me an email address to send it to.
    11. I emailed him accordingly.
    12. He responded with the same basic info that it had to go through warranty with Joe Rocket but had no estimate on when I would receive a refund.

My problem with this is that they have a warranty policy and nowhere does it state that the product can not be used in order to be covered under the warranty. When I initiated the warranty I was not informed that I might not receive a refund if the jacket was "used". If they HAD told me, I could at least understand. But I was told I would receive a refund in 10 to 14 days.

    13. After receiving the vague email response NOT giving me an expected refund date or any satisfaction at all, I posted this new info. on their FB site. I think their buyers should be aware of their hidden "used" return policy. I also responded to Chris' email, asking him to do the right thing, as well as look at their customer service policy.... they need to make sure pertinent information is given to customers when making returns.

    14. My posts have been deleted from their FB site and I was removed from it. I can "Like" it again to becom a part of it again, but cannot post or comment.

Unbelievable to me that this is how they handle their business and customer service. I know they have great prices and efficient processing and shipping... however their returns and customer service absolutely suck.

Consider yourselves all warned and if you ever need to return anything to them, don't ever say I didn't warn you. The jacket was $85.00. Will it really kill them to send me a refund before they get approval from Joe Rocket? They have assured me that the claim will be approved and I will receive my refund, so what is their risk in abiding by their own return policy? Whoever heard of waiting 4 to 6 weeks to receive a refund on anything? I will keep you updated on events... if it gets better, great, if not, well, I feel sorry for Motorcycle Superstore.... it's a shame they don't have better business practices.

nothing about a warranty policy on their webstie, but the return policy does specify new, and unused

Returns & Exchanges - Motorcycle Superstore

sometimes when you go cheapest, you are giving something(s) up. That little extra profit is what some places use to act in the consumer's best interest. Or to carry the money on what in their case is probly several dozen warranty claim returns at a time.

I have had nothing but good luck with mcss. That said:
    1) dispute the charge on your credit card
    2) call (don't email) Joe Rocket and explain the situation
    3) call mcss and discuss

You WILL have a happy ending

Joe Rocket stuff looks pretty but compared to many other makers it's pretty cheesy.

See I've had bad experiences with bike bandit, their customer service is decent, but they send the wrong parts. First time around their listing for the VFR air filter was actually for a goldwing, which they rectified relatively quickly, another they had the wrong description for a chain master link which I ended up biting the bullet and buying a different link cause i didn't feel like arguing with the lady. In the end, while the prices may be significantly higher and the selection not as good, you can't beat your local bike shop for service, as long as they aren't a-holes. I have found a couple that are really nice.

i wish more folks understood that.

i sell bikes (both pedal and motor), and have stood on both sides on the counter.

at least once a week, somebody comes in, tries on goods, and says "i just wanted to try it on for size. i found it $x cheaper online, and just needed to know what size to order"

they just dont understand that some day we wont be there anymore.

on the other hand, about 2 weeks ago, a guy bought a $9000 pedal bike.
he didnt even ride it before handing over cash.
he just thought it looked great, and needed a xtra bike for his other home.

Ok blatantly telling you they just needed to try it on for size to buy it online is just ignorant. I did try a jacket on in a store once and end up buying it online at a later date because the guys in the bike store completely ignored me. I may not need/want any help, but smiling and saying "Hi how are you" when I walk in the door means more than one might think. I know I'm young and don't have much $$ but I spend what money I have available on my bike.

I'm a walking Joe Rocket advertisement, from shoes, gloves (2 pair) jacket & lid. never had an issue, and think the items are good quality. The high cuff gloves are a little difficult to put on or take off, but it's just because my hands get sweaty after wearing them.

I like them. I get my stuff super fast from them with no problems.

Joe Rocket has the warranty on their products not the store. Should have dealt directly with them.

I don't think any body wants messed up gear. When will these people learn treat your customers like Macys does I buy from Macy its not like Im saving any money there but the quality of service is there. If you go to a Thai massage and don't get a happy ending the customer is going to bitch. Thats why all of them now advertise NO HAPPY ENDING :frown:

    Is this joe rocket science?

Disclaimers, warantees and return policies are all written by lawyers. The language is convoluted yet precise. What it ain't is standard 500 word vocabulary American English. Notice to that it ain't in Spanish or French yet, like the same legalese on a DVD that tells you that Interpol will come to your pad and eat your children if you copy Kim Kardashian's big ass sex flick with the LA Lakers.

Seems like fixing a bad seam in a pocket would have been the solution to the problem and maybe even taking some seam sealer to the inside of that 85 buck jacket.

Better yet, hit up Andy Goldfine for an Aerostitch and the problem goes bye-bye.

Should read: Life is too short to wear cheap crap! Once you experience the nirvana of wearing something exceptional, you wont wana go back to wearing garbage. Bite the bullet and buy an Aerostich suit! Or at least maybe a jacket or something, I am on my second suit and could not comfortably operate my motorcycle without one.

The old adage, "you get what you pay for" is true. Buy a $40.00 dollar pair of shoes and they last maybe a year/Buy a $200.00 pair and they last a life time, or at least 7 years. Thats what one pair of Redwings is doing (shameless plug) ; )

Still wearing the original pair of Bates Fastlanes too, bought them suckers in 1992, (only know this cause they wrote it down on the label inside the boot) liked em so much bought a second pair. Point of this is this. If the gear is well made and you have manufacturers support, you can keep it going. Unlike some of the chinese crap textile garments that are being made now where when it rips you wana toss it. I gota go and eat some curried goat now. Buh Bye

Well since this thread has taken a turn from just being about MCSS, I'll throw in my opinion.

I try to buy the best that I can afford. I've been partial to First Gear, not to mention their products seem to fit me right. I've picked up a few things from Cortech recently, and while I don't think they may be the "A" rated stuff, it does appear to be made well.

As for ordering on line: Anything I've ever ordered has been from MotorcycleGear.com (formerly New Enough). These guys give great descriptions. Easy to get someone on the phone. Prices are usually right in line with everyone else. And I think their return policy is great.

I recently ordered a pair of boots from them. When they showed up, turns out the zipper was defective right out of the box. Went on line, filled out a return form, and within an hour I had a prepaid shipping label sent to me that all I needed to do was print it out and slap it on the box. Boom, done. They even offered to send out a replacement pair of boots that day BEFORE I even shipped my defective ones back. To me, that's customer service!. As it turns out, I ordered a completely different boot because I realized the initial ones I ordered were going to be too tight in the calf once my pant were tucked in. So I called them, gave them my card info, billed me the additional $, and the new boots were shipped that day.

I've never had a problem with the guys at MotorcycleGear. You can e-mail them or call them, and its always been a great experience.

I just read their return policy and it seems pretty clear.

Wrong size, wrong color – No Problem! You may return any new, unused or unaltered item to Motorcycle Superstore within 60 days of receipt

    Warranty Returns
Please Note - Warranty processing may take up to 8 weeks and is subject to the individual manufacture's policies and discretion. Motorcycle Superstore cannot guarantee a refund, replacement or repair of the item. Manufacturer warranties do not cover items determined to be normal wear or due to customer negligence.

This issue is more along the lines that it was bad when you got it? Which is a warranty issue correct but if the customer buys something and uses it Thats why I like Cyclegear. No hassle 7 day exchange you can even where a helmet on your nugget.
