True, no one here is anti-helmet. Just don't make my choices for me.

Thank you Tink, Im flattered. But Im only wordsmithing ideas that we all have.

The big picture is you live by your choices or die by them........some of us are lucky enough to live in a place where a person can do that in the simplest and silliest way...........just riding our bikes. We are lucky enough not to have to fight the big fights. Thank heaven there are others that do that for us, whether they be cops like Randy, or servicemen, or EMTs like Drewl....these are the guys that take the ideological debates to heart every day when they deal with on a personal level the things we talk about in the abstract, I did that kind of work for a bit as a young man, and so I can say its true..........

There are very few places where one can live like we do, and you can go on forever making arguments, but this forum and all like it are part of free idea exchange, and I submit that dissent is in fact patriotism, and debate is the foundation of free society. I will make one caveat, being free to do as you will ends when you use what you have gained from that freedom to skew the rules in your favor............

This thread was started to prove my position on a point I was attempting to make during a discussion taking place outside the site. It had nothing to do with helmets or helmet laws. It had a lot to do with people. Exactly what I said would happen, did. The subject matter was a gift and the timing was perfect.

Hmmmm...I like this rambling of yours bear. But one thing to challenge. We can and do legislate morality all the time. Laws against theft, murder and even the labor laws I enforce attack greed at it heart all of which have their basis in the judeo-christian ethic. So the statement that we cannot legislate morality is a misnomer as we do all the time, but the real questions is: How much morality should we legislate?

As a side note, are you ever going to come back out this way, would be nice to have you visit again.

I was thinking more along the lines of a angel rather than a saint. You could do flybys and become the forum's official crap duster.

So would my iconic patronage include blessings and shit for all the dudes and dudettes that already copped and get off on guilt trips? You can save them. I want the one's that have real cojones.

I cant save anyone, but you can. Its only by your tireless efforts and incredible knowledge of all things that we mere mortals on this forum are able to lead our poor miserable lives.

Thank heaven you are here to guide us.

I now need to go cut the grass, please, I beg you, intercede for me with the powers that be and allow me to do it correctly.

Um to this thread I would like to state that its not the lack of helmet that killed him but if it was true that his shoe lace got caught in the whatever chain/belt doohickey thing on harleys he would be alive. So lets go back to cave man and ride open toe that fixes everything. You can feel more and have 10 toes to hold on to the bike better. Ten toes holding on to the foot peg would have surely made all the difference.

With another ten toes holding on we wouldn't need helmets.

Even the monkey in hangover two wears a helmet and nobody ever arrests a drug dealing monkey.

Thank you for sharing your inadequacies.

Is your lawnmower a Honda? If not, buying one could be something you could do to help yourself.

but the new riding mowers will no longer run the blades while the rider is traveling in reverse.

if you have a lot of trees to mow around and want to be productive in your mowing, better buy an old rider off craigslist

Donald will be happy that mowers are still carburated and haven't adopted that FI bullshit yet

Good points Tink. People need to remember . . .

In a free society people have the right to make stupid choices.

Riding without a helmet is a stupid choice.

I don't have time to read all the assorted good ideas and repeated other stuff in this thread.

I was going to say that unfortunately in these times, it comes down to MONEY, and that I don't care if you wear a helmet or not; I just don't want to foot the medical bill for the rest of your life.

Then I got to thinking... That is a slippery slope. Maybe a cager would say to same to me, even if I did wear one. Where does it end?

I think the better argument is this: The State owns the roads, and driving is a privilege, not a right. If you want to play on their roads, you have to follow their rules. They don't have (that many) arbitrary rules, the ones they do have are primarily for safety on THEIR roads.
In part, I think this ties back to the money thing. But now its getting too twisted to unravel.

In any case, I am not concerned as I have no desire to ride without one. Can't people find better things to protest about? I can think of many. Choose your battles.

I did inhale, im pretty sure i knew it was acid, i think santa existed at some point in some form or fashion, i don't argue with police, don't really care that much about clowns witout helmets.

It's only THEIR road if you're one of the freeloaders who don't pay taxes. Then it would be MY road.
