Looking for an old junk front rotor off a 3rd Gen bike. Anyone that has a junk rotor that they are willing to part with please let me know.

I am trying to fit it up to a CBR F2 front wheel and fork conversion that I did to my 2nd Gen VFR. I need it for fitment before I go and buy new ones. The stock CBR rotors are the same size as Gen 2 bikes and are lacking in performance.

    Thanks

umm.... the F2 calipers are a weak point, the rotors are pretty frikkin good. I've owned and ridden a few F2's, unless your rotors are trashed, and the pads wasted, rebuild the calipers first. THEN try changing rotors.

I have a complete F3 front end and could put those calipers on and give it a try but that is what has me thinking. The Gen 3 along with the F3 have 296 mm rotors and the Gen 2 along with the the F2 have 276 mm rotors. The problem is that the F3 has floating rotors and the Gen 3 does not and it looks like the I can make the Gen 3 rotors work on my F2 wheel. Then use the F3 calipers and hangers to have the correct spacing.

As far as the F2 brakes are they are working as should, just the stopping power is lacking in intial bit and power. So going to a larger rotor, more swept area, and a better caliper should be just what I am looking for. So that is why I am looking for a Gen 3 rotor so I can mock it up.

F3 calipers are still two piston, and you wont really be that impressed with them. what you NEED if you want a better bite, is a 4 piston caliper, such as that off an F4/F4i, or similar newer sportbike.

add some steel brake lines, you'll note an immediate difference regardless of calipers. rubber lines expand and flex, steel ones do not, giving a firmer, more solid feeling brake, and a stronger initial bite.

Have double stainless lines and Gafler HH pads. It is as good as it gets with this setup. Just want to try a larger rotor. And from what I have read the F3 brakes where a pretty good improvemnt from the F2 even though they were still a two piston floating caliper design.

So agian I want to try it being that I have most the parts already. Just need a rotor for mock up.

so you need an F3 rotor? I'm not 100% but I think 900RR rotors are the same as F3. I may be mistaken though. worth a look.

No I have F3 rotors, I want a Gen 3 rotor. I have a complete spare F3 front end and the wheels are diffierent. The F3 rotors have a completely different bolt pattern and do not have a speedo drive on the wheel. So I want to use the F2 wheel with speedo drive with Gen 3 rotors.

No worries. Looks like the ST1100 and the PC800 along with some other Honda's of the same vintage also run the same rotor as a Gen 3.

Are you still looking for a 3rd Gen rotor?
