Did anybody follow these 1986 VF1000R listings on eBay? Rarely do you find one of them on there in this kind of shape, let alone two. The 31 mile bike went for $10K even though it looked like it had a dent in the tank (maybe it was just the lighting in the picture).

The 2000 mile bike went for about $7300. I really thought that this one would have gone for more and it just looked cleaner than the lesser mile bike. Either way, these bikes in great shape can bring in a good chunk of money. By any chance were either of these bikes listed by anyone on this forum?

Very cool. I would add in the cost of replacing rubber parts and fluids to the final price.

That's interesting with the state of the economy. I really didn't thing the VFKR's would go for that much regarless of condition. I guess I shouldn't be running mine like a madman on twisty roads like I have but I'll be damned if it's gonna be a garage queen :)

Man, why doesn't my R have ABS front brakes? I got hosed.

Gotta love how someone who claims there bike is owned by a "collector" but doesn't really know the first thing about it. Agreed, I probably would have gone for the 2000 mile bike because that guy seemed to know what he was talking about. I also like the quantity of detailed pictures.

    Collectors are good.
They keep nice things for us until we need them.

For the average person, I think this is a true statement, but the economy isn't really hurting the people who have it. I also agree that it is surprising what these bikes go for. Within the last 6 months, there was another one that went for $8K that too was in beautiful condition. It seems that the '86 bikes go for more and routinely go for $6K+ in great shape.

We are in a depression and it is a great time to buy things cheap.
Lets hope it does not get so bad that nothing is worth anything.
Then only food, money, or a bicycle will have value.

Right now the US is evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans and the extremists can make the difference. They are outright refusing to give even one inch, even if the whole country goes down. Meaning to hell with the poor and the old and the children. If no budget is passed then all the Social Security recipients may not get checks next month. That may mean YOUR GRANDMOTHER.
OH, I forgot You have tons of money! LOL
