Hey everyone, so im finally a fully licenced motorcyclist in the state of CT and with almost 3000 miles on the my 03 vfr, im itching to take her on a nice road trip, next week ill be taking her to mass to a friends lake house about 200 miles round trip. Will be the longest ride for me to date. (i know its nothing) but im just looking for some advice on what to excpect and what to be ready for on a highway trip. I will be putting all my gear in a backpack because i havnt found a decent luggage set up yet. (still looking for a decent soft saddle bag setup) any advice will be much appreciated.

That's the beauty of every trip..you never know what to expect. As I'm sure you already know, New England roads suck and New England drivers suck. Watch out for both. Remember what you learned in the Motorcycle Safety Course (I'm sure you took it). Make sure to look your bike over before the trip,,air pressure, lights, brakes, fluids, etc. Wear your gear no matter how hot it is, and have a great time !

I know it's a late reply but wanted to add my 2 cents....

Congrats on the VfR by the way!

Long trips for me require one thing...ear plugs! Even the ones used for shooting guns work. They really cut down on rider fatigue over a long ride. Also something to wipe down your face shield for bugs n stuff.

Your trip is probably over already but anyways....

Tire plug kit and a way to reinflate the tire.

I used my plug kit the first day of my honeymoon trip. The CO2 cartridges work, as do a small manual pump. I take both.
