Anyone mount "luggage" on their bike without the word Givi.

I'm going to fab up some boxes for the sides of my bike and wouldnt mind some advice from someone who has gone before me. I usually use ammo cans but would prefer something different this time, maybe plastic, maybe aluminum. Looks are secondary to function so long as they dont make me look like a bum.

I tried bmw bags...but failed...massively. But thats mainly because my welding skills suck.

 

arent there pictures of it somewhere? Can't seem to find them.....

 

One of the member actually installed a set of BMW bag on his 5th gen. There should be picture on one of the old thread.

Here's everything you need:

All you have to do a fab some mounts from the bag frames to hard points on the bike. I did it with some 1/8" X 1" SS Strap from Home Depot for my 3rd gen. I little rough to saw with a hack saw, but if you have a band saw and a drill press, should take you an afternoon.

I use it as a tool box. At the time they only came in orange or white but who knows what color they are molding this week.

I sold the VFR and was looking for some options for luggage for a KLR when I found a mounting system for hard bags at: Aluminum Pannier Mount Kit - KLR650 & Adventure Touring Motorcycle Luggage and Aluminum Panniers for $40 you can get quick release mounts for a tube steel rack that you would build/customize. Coupled with a pair of seahorse cases and were talking hard bags for under $250.
