Just over 5400 on the 2003 VFR

Around 27,000 miles on CB750 Frame with (x) miles on non serial matching motor with a hole, or"oil cooling vent" in the timing chain track going up on the front of cylinder block. This is what happens when previous owners do not do routine checkups on bikes! steel chain chewed a hole right through the aluminum! Don't see how that much slack could have gone without notice.

It still runs fine though and leaks no oil with my silicone band aid!

I just got my '86 VFR750f, but she has about 41K miles on her and is running. Not registered since '05, so will be interesting to see if I can get her to pass emissions without a carb rebuild.

Wow - Having visited AZ several times and being thoroughly impressed, learning now they have a bull-SHlT bike inspection blows their image. I used to live in Nazi JErSey and they had a state inspection as well, I remember some state worker was trying to give me attitude about my bell gt helmet n0t having a dot sticker. That place was filled with stupid arse beauches. Good luck, V-four carbs are not as nice as inline 4s to work on, but u gota love the sound and feel of that motor, some things are worth it.

I have a 86 vf500 that I plan on registering in march, at the moment it has yoshi aftermarket exhaust on it. Would it help it pass emissions to have the stock exhaust on it or will it matter?
leaving the carb alone would just the exhaust change back to stock help clean up the emissions any?

Or does anyone know if NC even checks motorcycle emissions? I know they check cars that are 1995+ but wasnt sure about bikes

emissions aren't really soley dependant on the pipes, NC. If you're carbs were set with the aftermarkets on them and it passed emission back then, then the only reason you're bike wouldn't pass now is dirty carbs - more specifically, dirty jets. The dirtier the carbs are, the rougher she will run as well.

If your bike is sluggish or has poor fuel economy, that's a big point in the direction of a carb cleaning. Changing back to stock won't really help unless you're aftermarkets are worn out and your originals are fairly new, then you may want to put them back on and have the bike tuned to the original pipes. It's really a matter of preference.

Bottom line, give her a tune up and run her through, if she fails... carb clean. I'm just sayin....

Alright, she runs pretty smooth, I have ran carb cleaner through them an all but I know thats nothing like tearing them down and hand cleaning them. If she fails I will tear her down and clean em up, if she passes I might still tear her down and clean em up just because I would like to tinker with them!

This is what registered on the odo when I arrive home from work today. I couldn't have planned this any better:

    IMGP0354.jpg

Add a numeral "1" in front of that three boiz. I did the math. This equates to:80,778254991 miles.
