Possible problem with Dunlop Spormax Q2 front tire?

I'm a new member with a 25th anniv. model. I would like to know if anybody is running Dunlop sportmax Q2 tires and if they have experienced any problems with them? I put a front & rear on my bike last fall and immediately got the feel like a front wheel bearing was going. talked to Dunlop they gave me another front tire. Still have the same problem. I changed the front wheel bearings which only had 5,000 miles on them. Still the same. the 2 tires were manufactured within 2 weeks of each other. Talked to Dunlop again and they said they would send another tire to my local Honda dealer which I am going to tommorrow to get it mounted and balanced. I had no problem with the original tire which was not worn out. I changed it because I wanted it to match the rear tire. Unfortunately I do not have it as I told the dealer to throw it out. you can only feel it when you are going straight if you lean right or left or go around a corner right or left it goes away until you go straight again. It is also not real pronounced but it is definitely there.

 

Are you removing the tire and taking it to the dealership or are they doing the tire removal and install? It could be related on how you're putting it back. I doubt its the tire. Ive been running Dunlops for quite some time without issues.

Tires are directional.. make sure they are rotating the right way...

 

I've been using a Q2 front with a Roadsmart rear for a while now without any negative issues. I like the combo, so far.

Many riders use the Q2s for track days and most have been quite positive about their experience.

Bad batches of tires can, and do happen, regardless of brand. Good to know that Dunlop has made an attempt to resolve your issues by replacing tires.

 

Have the stealer check the stem/triple clamp area and see if its tight, I doubt this is the problem but its my only logical step. Also make sure nobody hasn't messed with your preload ie one side up or down more than the other.

With recent experiences in mind, the first thing I check when a bike handles poorly after a tire install is whether or not the installer used Dynabeads. If he did, have him remove them and balance with traditional weights.

 

Q2s on all my bikes. No issues. I would check headstock bearings. $35 part $75 labor.

 

Other than quicker turn in, which could be set up and doesnt bother me, no problems with Q2s........I do like that Dunlop is willing to help you .
