i have a 86 vfr700. the wires goin from the rectifier to the stator.... the plug melted. ive been riding it for a few weeks with no problem. today on the way home i smelled it burning. why is it getin so hot that its melting the plug? when i got the bike the plug was like that and i replaced the rectifier.
im lookin up different plugs to fix this problem( after reading a million posts about this problem). would the stator hard wiring kit and the vfrness help with the burning plugs and the heat on my rr and wires?
Remove the yellow wires from the plug and solder them directly to the r/r wires. Otherwise you risk destroying the stator if any 2 yellow wires short together.
You may also want to cut back an inch or two of the wires from the plug, the wires tend to get cooked/damaged and the resistance will be high until you get back to some clean wire.
i got some high heat, high volt, industral plugs im goin to use and i plan on cuting the wires till i get good wire. im also goin to rewire some stuff to move the rr to the front of the bike this weekend.
