" I used to ride Jap Crap " But the comment didn't come from who you'd think by looking at belows photos.

Being a stunningly beautiful Sunday Winters morning went for bit of a blat with my Gixxer riding buddie through my closest local Twisties then after a bit of a chat over coffee two Custom Choppers with a MV Augusta 1078 Brutale in toe rolled in parking next to us.

We first had a bit of a friendly "Motorcycle Art" chat with the 2 Custom guys, now on a personal level I don't see value in them on the road but respect the amount of craftsmanship that goes into one. They seemed reasonable guys and while I didn't follow them on the road to see how they rode they didn't have the big heads like some Custom Chopper riders we've struck in the past.

Customer Chopper proding over we started talking sport bike practicalities with Brutale guy, now I like MV Augutas in general and the 1078 is a good'n but Mr Brutales first comment when asked how he liked it was he used Ride "Jap Crap" having a Fireblade before MVs but he found Hondas dull ?

OK fair enough to say he prefered the Brutale to a santised 'Blade but thought "Jap Crap" seemed a little unnecessary in a friendly conversation. Further conversation found out he only rides about a thousand miles or so a year and went from the 'Blade to a MV750 but when this was too uncomfortable he traded it on the Brutale.

When he looked over my VFR I informed him it was 11 years old and has clocked up 52,000 faultless fun filled kms since buying it in '05. Not particularly caring what he thought he managed to supprise me with when I was looking at Sports Tourers for something more comfortable found these the best of them but the VFR was " too underpowered for me ".

While my mind was fruitlessly whirring away trying to guage his riding ability to use more HP on the road could see one of his Custom Chopper buddies smirking quietly next to him before pipeing up with " if your Brutale is so powerful how come we have to keep waiting for you ? "

Pretty much my outlook, too. I do like the copper and polished aluminum combo in your bottom picture.

Some years ago, I went to a bicycle store to see how bad sticker shock was getting. There was a Ducati... 851? 888? parked out front. I asked the person who came over to help me who owned it, and it was his. I asked him how he liked it, and got a short lecture on the inferiority of all that wasn't Ducati, and how those that didn't understand really weren't worthy of riding motorcycles, period. It wasn't quite that severe, but it was close.

    Yeah.

I owned a Ducati 748 Desmoquattro. Nice to look, at a blast to ride (for only 500 miles at a time), a mothereffer to have to fix and pay the premium on the OEM parts being those are the only available. Have come across several Ducatisti who swear by them, but then again, their check books can afford the luxury of not knowing what it's like to fix them all week long just to ride them for the weekend. Very upper crusty, but soggy towards the so-called inferior Japanese bikes. Hmmm, after today's race, Japanese bikes don't seem inferior to me.

I'd rather just look at them, not ever own one again.

Im pretty sure the same experience applies to MV. Besides, anyone ever wonder (or know) why MV doesnt have a current GP or SBK team?

When out looking for a Gen 5 in '05 was originally after an '01 Candy Tahitian Blue but after accidently stumbling on this Immaculate '99 with only 2000miles at the right price I immediately jumped at it paying cash on the spot and haven't looked back.

It is Hondas Limited 50th anniversary and based on Mike Hailwoods '60s racing colors with some quality details like the Old style Honda Wings on the tank, silver stripping and special hard resin enamel badges on the fairing sides and Keys. Unfortunately the Colors are also polarising with some labling it a "crash" special but others liking it for it's difference and nod to Hondas racing past.

Well, on the plus side, that Brutale rider told you everything you needed to know about him early in the very first conversation.......that is very efficient.

Its kind of like folks that enjoy broadcasting their political opinions unsolicited on their car bumpers.

I'm a big fan of efficiency.

Before I googled "Sofuoglu", I tried to assign a word to each letter to see if i could figure out what it meant. I thought it might be a variation of stfu:redface:

No that's my friend busting my balls. I once said Sofoglu is talented, and since this season Kenan can't find his way anywhere near the front, I am not allowed to forget it

Had wondered what an average MotoGP 2 rider had to do with this thread, still not 100% clear.

Probably has to do with Sofoglu running up the back of Simon and belongs in the racing thread :joker:
