Just wanted to make my first post here to say hello and introduce myself....Chris from Indianapolis. Just picked up a very nice '87 VFR700 today. Waiting to get title, plates, insurance sorted out, but for now she looks really nice in my garage. My other bike is a '74 Honda CB550four. Love the vintage Hondas....but not for long trips on the highway. Went looking for something more modern (relatively speaking) for interstate travel and longer journeys. Found this beautiful blue VFR that was well cared for and brought her home. Here's a pic. Looking forward to learning more about these bikes. Cheers!
More Pics Please!!! Welcome Chris. :welcome: C'mon man quit hoggin' that old beauty all for yourself, howzabout a coupla more pics.hoto:
Well until I get her plated and a few little things fixed, I won't have very many pics to share. Once she's on the road, I'll get some good ones. In the meantime, here she is again still on the trailer with my mean tow vehicle.
^^^^^^ Post 'em if ya got 'em. :thumb: Be darn near a crime not to show off an old beauty like that.
That bike looks gorgeous. Get her fixed up quick so we can meet up and go for a ride. The weather is starting to break in Indiana finally and in a few weeks the southern passes should have opened up from all the flooding and be passable for our enjoyment.
Yeah the VFR is in nice shape. The guy had taken pretty good care of her and bought it off of his friend several years ago....so I knew the history of the bike for the most part. About 5 yrs ago he repainted it himself and did a really nice job. Shortly after, it fell over on its right side and scraped up the fairing in a couple of spots, so it has been touched up, but not bad. He also sold it to me with a Honda repair manual, all the leftover paint supplies, and some random parts he had been collecting whenever he found them cheap enough to hoard....one being an entire tranny (internals). She starts right up and goes. A couple of little issues....High beam isn't working, may just be bulb. The other two issues bother me a bit more....the kill switch does not work (only off with key) and you can only start the bike when it's in neutral....so I think that either the clutch switch is disconnected or something is wrong in that circuit. Don't want to have shift to neutral in the middle of a stoplight if I kill it or something. Until I get more pics of the new Honda, here's my 37 yr old girl.....my '74 CB550K. first pic shows the bike as it should look....my tank if currently off being repainted due to some damage around the gas cap....the second pic is of the bike from last weekend when i took a ride near New Castle, IN and stopped at the Wilbur Wright birthplace memorial....the tank on it is my buddy's (a different color) until mine gets back. More VFR pics to come. I'm sure I'll have some questions soon.
THATS THE BIKE STOLEN FROM MY DRIVEWAY. Tell you what. Ship it back and I won't call the cops. Sweet. and welcome
Well, put on about 100 miles yesterday and today just riding around the city. Love the power. Before taking her out on the road yesterday (after getting plates, insurance, etc.) I checked over things to make sure fluid levels were up and all that good stuff. I started looking over things and laughed.....compared to my '74 CB550, this thing is the damn Space Shuttle! Oil cooler? fuel pump? Air forks? Rear disc brake? Hahaha....this is all foreign to me. Anyway, got back from a nice long ride tonight and filled up on way home. Was thrilled when I calculated mileage of 47mpg! What a machine.
