Has anyone changed out their oem tail light assembly and possibly want to sell me their stock one? I eff'd up not leaving well enough alone and went to tint my taillight & blinkers - epic fail. I'm so pissed off at myself right now and unable to ride my bike. Even after market would be an option. All comments are appreciated.

    thanks,

    Adam.

Got the stock tail light assembly off my '03 Adam. It's in excellent condition. Comes with the bulb sockets and light bulbs. Just bolt it on and you're good to go.
Asking $50.00 US for the tail light assembly, you pay shipping. PM me if you're interested.

This thread is worthless without pics of the epic fail LOL !!!

What went wrong? I recently tinted my tail light on my 3rd Gen and it came out pretty damn good considering it was my first time. I probably ended putting at least three or fours coats of tint followed by about ten coats of clear coat with numerous sandings with 2000 grit in between.

For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to wipe down the lens with brake cleaner prior to spraying it as I had no paint thinner...within a minute the tint started to crack and now looks like the bottom of a dried up lake bed.

What a way to ruin an ideal riding day.

Just sand them down and start over again. When sanding I recommend putting a couple of drops of dishwasher soap on the lense prior to "wet" sanding it. You will want to use finer grit each time and make sure to wash with soapy water between coats. After the surface is smooth you can apply a few coats (3 to 4) of the tint spray. Just make sure each coat dries completely before adding the next. After the final coat dries you can go ahead and give a very fine sanding and then start applying clear coat. After applying 6-10 coats of clear. If the surface starts crackling just wet sand it with 2000 grit sandpaper and use some rubbing compound like Meguiars to buff out.
