I have never been happy with the off/on throttle response of my 06. I have FMF exhaust, PC3, o2 elims, pair blocked. In slow curves getting back on throttle ,if I am not super smooth I get a "buck" which will through off my lines and can be very distracting. Same thing at a stop, a little "buck" if I am not very smooth. I guess being a little ham fisted I decided to try this Throttle Tamer. After installation I road about fifty miles and coming on throttle was better. It felt like I was gliding into turns better and held my line better.Much more one piece feeling, not as much off-on as before. Up shifting is also improved and blip/down shift is smother. I still have a small buck from a dead stop if I am not careful but I think I can adjust it out at the cable adjuster.....Lift the tank and find the throttle wheel on the left side. Block the spring return and unbolt the bracket holding the cables, unhook the top cable. This give plenty of slack to remove the throttle tube. I had to sand the paint off the Heli bars for the new tube to turn smoothly. I found it easier to remove the bar to reattach the throttle housing. The hardest part is re attaching the cable bracket ,don't drop an allen bolt down onto the engine four times!! You cant retrieve them. I think it was worth $75.00.

Exactly what is it that this throttle tube is supposed to do?

Tame the throttle boys. ...Its a smaller curve profile cam on the tube, smaller than stock so at the begining it turns less but you end up at 100% for the same amount of turn....Helps tame ham fist or smooths out imput. Road today and it really was smoother.

    Different strokes for different folks.

Got a coupla question for you Heros.

Because of the flattening of the cam profile on the throttle pipe for slower initial throttle response you get a pronounced hump (Red arrow in the pic) later in the throttle rotation. When the throttle rotation gets to that point it should "ramp up" pretty quickly because the throttle cable has to "climb up" onto that hump to get to the higher profile on the throttle pipe cam. Are you feeling that "ramping up" effect at all? If so how much?

Any modification you make to your bike is always a compromise. By slowing the initial throttle response you trade off for an aggressive throttle "ramp" a bit further down the line in the throttle rotation.

There's always a trade off with everything we do I would've told you to just learn to be smoother on the throttle.

I guess it's a matter of personal taste. I installed a throttle tube that opens the throttle more abruptly and found a knowledgable tuner to work with the PCIII to adjust the fueling correctly. Everybody has a different level of comfort. I'm sure there are folks that could benefit from this throttle tube, otherwise, they probably wouldn't be selling it. Thanks for answering my question

    Agreed.

I'm at the polar opposite end of the spectrum too. I prefer to run the most aggressive throttle tubes that I can find on all my bikes.

Nothing wrong with a Throttle Tamer though. I guess it's kinda like what Eddie Van Halen once said about music "If it sounds good,it is good". If the Throttle Tamer feels good to the rider on the bike, than it is good.

Smoother is better as far as I am concerned. This is what I have been working on. For me and street riding this has made my ride better. There is no ramp effect that I can feel but I seems to me that would be what you would want as you come on throttle. I hope it does ramp faster and will be looking for it. Smooth in fast out.

    Working on it Heroes. :whip:

Had a few setbacks and unfortunately it's looking like it's going to be taking a little longer (okay well actually prolly a lot longer at this point) than I had hoped to get it done.

It's amazing how some businesses can advertise for available goods and services and yet not actually have those goods and services currently available.

Stay tuned though I'll be posting up some funny teaser pics within the next month or two. :scared:

Heros, What model number did you get? G2 doesn't show it on their site, just the bike options. Easier to search for the best deal than searching based on bike.

Dave, Sorry but the infor I had is in the trash but I think it was Throttle Tamer with no #. Call the company to be sure. You can do a search on VFRD under the name and you will find the link and another review.
