the first line should be " when removing the fairings be very very careful...because if you crack it, it will cost you 3K to get a replacement.....

Good point. There is the distinct possibility that your finger could slip and shatter every panel on the bike. I should have included that.

lol ...I was actually surprised when I checked to find that a replacement side-panel was only $218. Not exactly cheap, but certainly not as expensive as I'd expected.

So I guess you could destroy every panel on the bike, and you still couldn't rack up a $3k bill on replacement parts! ...I don't know why people try so hard to find a reason to hate the VFR1200. :(

I have all the reason needed to despise the "VFR", but didn't buy the $3k bit either. Do have to admit though, the design/engineering is damned impressive...

Would not changing oil make the fairings last longer?

take it in jest bro... thats how it was meant ...
just looking at the bike it looks like it has a 100 page guide on how to remove the fairings... all the body lines matching up so perfectly..... I guess that is one thing that they kept the same...fairing removal for oil change....

The above posts prove that Beavis and Butthead spottings in various places is not rumor.

You do have to remove the lower cowl, but no, you do not have to remove the (painted) fairings. I actually don't know too many sport bikes where you can change the oil without removing something! ...but 4, easy to access, bolts and two pop-out clips isn't exactly difficult! lol

Thanks for taking the time to post the video. I just had to remove the fairing for the first time to fit a power commander and the video helped greatly.
    Much appreciated.
