Well, I have a little over 1600 trouble-free miles on the 500 since installing the new tires. The more I ride it, the better I like it....wish I had discovered it sooner.

I bought Duro HF918s for my 500, 100/90/16 front, 130/80/18 rear on the stock wheels. While I am not what most would consider an aggressive rider, I do have a lot of fun on the numerous twisty county roads in my neck of the woods. The Duros work very well for me, very good on dry pavement, good in the wet. I have not ridden in a downpour yet, only on wet roads after a rain, so I can't say how they would do in the former situation.

I've had the Duro HF918's for my bikes, they're excellent tires for the price. inexpensive, but very much sporty tire. basically a Dunlop GT501 clone, and they perform amazingly.
