Since May 21st was the end of the world, 5 guys and I went for a ride from Ft Worth TX to Hot Springs AR. I found a nail in my back tire the night before we were to leave on the 19th. So the next morning I went to Cycle Gear and bought a 190/50 Pirelli Angel ST tire. After riding 900 miles, I think the 190/50 is no problem; maybe 2mm lower in the back than the 190/55. I left Thurs afternoon and made it to Mena Arkansas, where we stayed the 1st night. It rained all day Friday going from Mena to Hot Springs, and I have to say the Pirelli did great it the rain. We had 2 Goldwings, 1 VFR, 1 BMW RT1150, and 2 Harleys. One of the Harley's must have got wet in the electrical system and we had to leave it at a gas station. Saturday was beautiful, and when we went back to the station the Harley fired up, so we were all good to go from there. Highway 8 from Glenwood to Mena is a fantastic windy road through the woods, highly recommended. I had to wait about 20 minutes when I got to Mena on the other guys; the VFR did great through the twisties. The other guys had ridden through Highway 1 going to Mena on Thursday, but I hadn't since I was running late Thursday. They weren't interested in doing it again, but that's one of the best rides in AR. So I went up to Queen Wilhemina State Park on Hwy 1, but for most of the ride it was fogged over really heavy. Kind of eery in a way. I did take a good pic when I got down below the fog line though. One point that may help gen 7 riders is that I went for about 40 miles with the single fuel bar flashing and found a small station to fill up. Thought for sure I was going to run out of gas. The last 3 hours saturday my bony rear end was getting really sore though. All in all the VFR was a great sport touring bike, and the Pirelli looks like a good tire choice.

Sounds like a grat ride. Post some pics plz, always intyeresting.

The Angel is a good tire in wet and dry but having just replaced mine with a Pilot road one my only complaint is that it seems a bit limeted on milage. Did about 5K miles on the Angel.
The Pilot is a bit harder and takes longer to get to running temperature but once there sticks just fine.

    Cheers!
