hey all i am new to VFRworld i had a 86 VFR750 that i sold in 91 had a few bikes after it ..
but it was still my love.
just got a great deal on a 06 VFR800 with only 5700 miles on it. Its funny how much alike it is to my 86 and yet how different.
does any one know how a Hindel slip-on would sound on this ? i had one on my 86 and the sound was great, and has anyone used the bodywork from China that you see on ebay ? [IMG]
any thoughts on it ? would like to get the Repsol set and a white set to have painted Rothmans colors.
    thankx !

    Welcome aboard and congrats.

I've read mixed reviews on the China bodywork, but no personal experience with it. So glad I just wasted two seconds of your life for making you read that.

Stock exhaust currently? I'm sure that any aftermarket slip on pipe will let her sound like she was meant to. If you like the Hindle from previous bikes, go for it!

And post up some pics. We love bike porn.

First of all, congratulations on the new bike. I still own my '86 750. I love it for what it is or was. My '07 is light years better in every category - except for the gear whine of course!

Welcome back, I'm sure you will enjoy your new ride. I recently bought my first V-four bike, a 2007 VFR 800, and I love it! The V-tech is somewhat controversial, but I am a big fan. You get the best of both worlds - good low end grunt for a short stroke 4 cylinder, and good gas mileage if you keep the revs down, but instant giggles if you rev it past 6400 rpm. I do not find the V-Tech transition at all disturbing - to me it's a bonus. It happens very predictably, and you don't need the tach to tell you that the extra 8 valves are active - the sound alone is plenty of indication.
Once I get this bike paid for I would like to pick up an older VF as my next toy (I would keep the one I have now). I have been reading about the VF400F, and right now that's what I am dreaming of. I am a slender, lightly muscled person, and I think the smaller bike with less power would be a lot easier to toss around.

sorry took so long to get the pix up i work way to much

so some back story on my new VFR i found it on craigslist and thought it was a scam
    the add read
"2006 VFR 800 for sale $4000 wife said i have to sell it. Has under 6k miles some damage on left for a low speed drop "
i work at the local Yamaha Dealer so i looked up the bluebook for it and it was 5200 ~ 6700 for this year of VFR . i gave the guy a call ( still thinking it was a scam lol ) and talked to him about the bike he sounded like he didn't want to sell it as we talked. ( i could her the wife in the background telling him to just get it sold ) btw the add for the bike started back on the 11 of April.
so i went to see the bike and fell hard for it paid him on the spot and rode it home that day. as you can see from my pix the left side has a good deal of road-rash.

i will take more photos tonight and tell you the rest of the story about the bike ( have to head to work now )
doh well it was like Christmas in may for me lol

Ok back to the bike's story it has Bridgestone BT002R on it front and rear, the rear is almost squared off down the center, so i was wondering if its the wrong type of compound and or tire for the bike and what others are running ? as a side note i no longer dream of being Fast Freddie so i am looking for a good gripping tire that has a good life span to it

I'm glad that I'm not the only one. That's one thing that I immediately noticed going from an 87 to an 04. The 87 had a distinct growl and whine that was just awesome. Also, the power band seemed smoother and more linear on the 87, but I figure that's due to the V-Tec on the 04.

Wow, you got a great deal on that '06.

Thanks for sharing, that was a nice article. Made me miss my 1987 Honda VFR700F2. It was the same color as the one in the article too! I agree with what was said, the 2nd gen seems more nimble compared to my 6th gen. It was so easy to shift the weight and loved to carve up turns in the 2nd gen. I'm still getting used to the 6th gen. The 6th gen sure is a beauty.
