Not a problem! I talked to the guys at bazzaz and my race shop here and the rationale for the power commander or any other fuel device for me is that I am trying to max out the performance (hp & torque) on my bike so I am getting a K & N air filter and Dam Exhaust (from Belgium) to run more air through the bike and both bazzaz and my race shop told me that the aftermarket filter and exhaust would actually "bog" down the performance (make it worse) if I did not do something about the air to fuel ratio...thus the need for the power commander to help it run as efficiently as possible while maxing out the performance. Esentially ramming more air into (air filter) and out of the bike (exhaust) with factory air to fuel ratio's settings would just retard the darn thing. Even if you do not get an aftermarket exhaust and/or air filter, a power commander or something of the sorts is a good idea because the stock air to fuel ratio they have on the bike is pretty conservative and apparently not the best (probably for emissions) so you will probably end up with better gas milage and increased performance with the addition. I hope that helps!

That is correct. ...by the way, there's no confirmation that this will work on the DCT model at all; you'll have to do some research if you have the Dual Clutch.

...but as for the dash, here's how it works. The ECU has two maps in it, one for 1st and 2nd gears (that is handicapped by a bunch of hp) and another for 3 - 5 that is unrestricted. The Z-Bomb (and the mod that's been posted on this forum which is essentially the same thing, but requires you to splice into your wiring harness) "tricks" the ECU into thinking you're in 3rd for 1st and second, so the ECU will output the unrestricted map. ...the dash gets its gear information from the ECU, not from the gearbox, so when you fool the ECU the dash reads the incorrect gear (like you said, 3, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6).

There's really no way around it unless Honda releases some new ECU flash (which will never happen).

VERY good information, thank you for that. I do have a LeoVince SBK pipe on mine but I'm really not unhappy with the stock performance. Probably because I'm comparing it to my old VFR800 and there's simply more power everywhere on the 1200 so it feels great to me, even if it's not running at optimal hp and torque. If it only gets better from here, then I'm one happy camper!
