    Hi

I've had my VFR for about 2000km now and when I first got it I could have swore that I was able to do 100km/h (60 for my American friends) in first gear. Now I did have a small accident at the end of last year but now I can only get to about 80 km/hr. Is there something wrong or was I mistaken when I read the speedo the first time? The bike is bone stock.

I was thinking that clutch pressure had something to do with it. I did land on that side in my accident and had to replace the clutch cover. But I did inspect the clutch and didn't see any problems.

    Any Comments?

yeah dude thats no bueno. somethings goin on there.
look up your bike its showing 84 kmh in 1st at only 10500 rpms. you should be pulling at least 12 grang outa yours.
my revlimiter cuts in at about 13grand on mine (tach). 12 on the dyno...
where is your revlimiter shutting yours down?
you might want to do some gps verifications too.
im not quite sure what the expectable error is on these bikes. maybe 8-10 percent optimistic...
ill run mine up to redline tomorrow and give you my numbers.

I wound my 06 up the other day and it was around 90kms/h in 1st, 120km/h+ in second and let off soon after that since I was reaching HTA 172 territory very fast.

I shifted before the rev limiter kicked in so it may have had a bit more in her.

I've never run my bike out to the rev limiter. I watched the tach and as soon as it hit 1200 I checked the speedo. The rev limiter isn't taking over early or anything. I just wanna make sure that she's pulling as hard as she's supposed to.

The speedo is a bit slow on the take up so unless you rev it up to about 12000rpm and keep it there for a second or two the speedo will not read correctly. Under correction but I've hit about 108Kph in first hitting the rev limmiter by accident. I am verry sure that in fith she hits 250 on the start of the redline though. How optimistic my speedo is, is however a unknown variable.

All in all, as long as the bike is still revving freely to the top of the rev range (+/- 12000 Rpm) your actual velocity will have remained unchanged unless you have non standard sprockets. If anything is in fact not functioning correctly it is most likely your speedo pickup somewhere in the bowls of the gearbox. A slipping clutch would be very noticable in higher gears if it were bad enough to have this type of effect in first gear.

And that concludes my five cents worth.
    Cheers!
