Hey, so my throttle cable is pretty busted, and I'm doing a big ride in a week and a half to the Deals gap. I have the new throttle cable and need to replace it. I was told that it's a B**** to replace so does any one have any tips of how to do it, or should I just fork over the cash and pay some one to do it for me? Thanks!

I just now took a look at the cable on my 500, looks to be a very straightforward replacement operation after removing the tank & seat.

Our member Slowbird (Matt) is fairly expert on those VF500s and lives near you, so maybe he would help, but Creaky says it's fairly easy.

I'll give it a shot either today or tomorrow. Thanks, I hope it is easy like creaky said, 'cause my dad made it out to be annoying hard to do.

I didn't say "easy", I said "straightforward". It does require some unusual manual dexterity to get the cables on/off the throttle shaft wheel.

well I managed to get it done. I was mostly just having trouble getting the carburetor off. But ya, it is straight forward.

Hey I have an 84 vfr 700. I'm trying to rebuild the carbs, but can't figure out how to get the throttle cable off. How did you do yours?

once i got the carbs out, I used a dental pick tool to get to pull the cable off. If you have the manual for the bike, it might have more info of how to do it.

Well I unlatched the throttle cable from the throttle assembly in between the carbs. Now I'm having problems pulling the carbs out. Should I separate them so I pull one out at a time or do I pull them all at the same time? How did you pull yours?
