I hardly ever posted since I became a member and haven't posted for a while; thus a quick update about what I have been up to is in order. I was involved in a motorcycle accident on Route 46 in Wayne, New Jersey on August 20, 2010. I sustained some injuries to my knee, hands, elbows, and ankle but is now fully recovered. The bike sustained about $5200 worth of damage which the insurance covered minus the $500 deductible. I went back to riding late last month when the weather improved.:smile::smile:

Anyway, I spent the winter preparing for a trip to Key West, Florida, and I will be leaving on May 21, 2011. I am considering a ride report. This, of course, would be a first for me.

After lots of reseach for the trip, I bought OEM hard saddlebags, a zumo 660, a GoPro camera, a Nikon S8100, a Moto tank bag, Rev-It jacket and pants, Sidi boots etc..

I've been taking longer ride to build some stamina. I got the time off from work but I am still working on the family to "allow" me to go.

Any advice? Best roads, places to see, good eats etc? By the way, I am going solo.

Here's a few pictures of the bike with the new saddlebags:

Cant help much about your trip, but I would like to hear more about your accident. What happened, did you have gear on, what did you learn, ect.

I was traveling west bound on the far right lane at about 55 MPH on Rt 46 in Wayne, NJ when a Jeep SUV cut me off in order to make a last second right hand turn into a strip mall. I actually made eye contact with the horrified woman passenger. His rear bumper made contact with my elbow area like a sideswipe and I went down. I was wearing a full face helmet, Fieldsheer summer motorcycle jacket, denim motorcycle pants, gloves, and half motorcycle boots. The only thing I learn is to stay away from the turning (into strip mall etc) lanes. The SOB did not even stop to ascertain if I was dead.
