Brother. I so need that job. As it stands. I may bet getting my near 40 y/o ass off the couch and going back to SWAT. Seems the young kids are not up to par. I'm not sure I'm hot about the idea about putiing down my beer and holding a pager & maybe my rifle. But I got one kid in servive and 2 more still growing up. If I'm called I'll do it. All of us are blessed with a calling, Sheme mine is F"ed up. I have more personal fun on the bikes.

Hubby. I always considered you to be one of the smarter ones on this site until I saw in your middle picture last that you let your tank get far to low. Don't you know there is crap in the tailings of a tank? I mean WTF doode?

Bodywork is done. Next weekend build a few small covers, wait on the chain, sprockets and rear brake parts, add a set of rear signals and thats it.

no offense, but the katana is in my eyes a scrap heap. a 450lb scrap heap. having to fix them formed that opinion for me. theres absolutely nothing mechanically sound about them, on top of being hideous. 2nd gens are WORSE.

I'm no fan of the Katana, but you do have some vision my friend! Good work, I'm sure she'll be psyched when she gets it back.

That shaved fender does look cool. I was looking at some that were cut and none really jumped out to me. I about had my fill of bodywork on this one as is.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of the bike itself, that is some real sweet work you did there Hubby. I can't believe it is the same bike. You have added 6 tons of class to what was once 5 tons of ugly.

I'm not denying that. I love katanas simply because they keep me in business with what all breaks on them. wont be long before I earn a rep as the only mofo in town workin on the things.

I will say I have to admire the work put into this one. it certainly improved it aesthetically. now mechanically nothing short of an old hurricane/F2 CBR frame and motor will really mechanically upgrade it.

No doubt that the Kat is on the "dog" side when it comes to how it proforms in the power to weight and handling areas. And this one was reallly beat up mechanincly. I would'nt about to go out and search one out. Just not "my kind of bike". This one is slated to be a "first bike" for a woman who has little experince and wants to get started. Can it be "beefed up"? hell yeah. Little brothers second bike (persing66 on here) was a '92 Kat I think, with a drop in '04 GSX-R 750 motor and jetted carbs. All the 600 in this bike is is a sleaved 750 with leaner carbs. It was quite a step up from his 82 CB650C. But after it was stolen he got his first VFR '04, that was also stolen, and then got his current Gen 5. My point is we all start on something. My 81 CB750 was AWESOME but could not hold a candle to my FZ1 I ride now. Just ause a bike is a "DOG" don't mean it can't be a blast to ride. Hell, my '79 XS400 chopper handles like a cement truck and want to fall over at low speed but is a HELL OF A LOT OF FUN.

With the execption of the chain, sprockets and rear brake parts (that the owner did not get to me this weekend) my work is done. Side covers built, mirrors on,wired up & all back together. Done! Only been 4 weekends, but it felt longer.

You are a miracle worker my friend. And I agree with you that a dog can be a lot of fun.

My wife's Ninja 500 is a prime example of that. The suspension flat out sucks. It's garbage and saying that makes me feel bad for all the garbage I just insulted. It has a single disk up front and the rear brake is just as good as the front if that tells you anything.

But it's a lot of fun to ride, even 2up with the tail wallowing around corners and the center stand sparking against the pavement.

    Hell, I want a 500 now.
